Job description

NewsNation is seeking an experienced Steadicam Operator to support live news, political programming, and special event coverage from our Washington, DC Bureau. This role is responsible for capturing dynamic, visually compelling shots that enhance storytelling and elevate the viewer experience across live and recorded productions.
What You'll Do
  • Operate Steadicam systems for live and recorded news, political shows, and special event coverage.
  • Collaborate with Directors, Producers, and Talent to execute creative and effective camera shots.
  • Perform smooth, accurate camera movements that enhance storytelling and production value.
  • Assist with camera blocking, rehearsals, and production planning as needed.
  • Maintain Steadicam equipment and ensure all systems are production-ready.
  • Adapt quickly to breaking news, live events, and changing editorial priorities.

Qualifications
  • 3+ years of professional Steadicam operating experience in broadcast television, live events, sports, entertainment, or similar production environments.
  • Strong understanding of camera composition, movement, and visual storytelling.
  • Experience working in live production environments.
  • Ability to execute complex shots while maintaining composure under pressure.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Experience supporting political programming, live events, debates, town halls, or election coverage is a plus.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours during major news events.

Compensation Range: $45 - $55 (hourly) based upon experience
