Apple Valley News Now is your trusted local ABC affiliate serving the Yakima/Tri Cities region of Washington. As part of the family-owned Morgan Murphy Media, we put our communities first-because they are the heart and soul of our mission.

About this opportunity:

Apple Valley News Now is seeking an innovative storyteller interested in anchoring local newscasts. We are looking for a self-motivated individual who wants to dig deeper to tell a compelling story. This position is located at KVEW-TV in Kennewick, Washington.

What you'll do:

  • Anchor newscasts
  • Develop story ideas; shoot, edit and write local news stories for TV & digital platforms
  • Demonstrate editorial judgment using knowledge of journalism ethics and libel laws
  • Produce newscasts when needed & other roles as assigned by news director
  • Enterprise compelling stories for newscasts, website and other platforms
  • Collaborate with co-workers on the best way to present/report stories

What you'll bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in journalism or related field
  • Ability to edit using Adobe Premier preferred but not required
  • Degree in journalism, communications or equivalent field preferred
  • Strong broadcast and AP style writing skills
  • Ability to work under extreme pressure and meet deadlines every day
  • Ability to lift and carry 15 pounds

Pay range: $20/hour - $25/hour

Benefits:
