Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Current, active Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification issued by the BACB in good standing
  • Completion of BACB-required 40-hour RBT training; effective January 2026, training must meet updated 3rd Edition Task List Content Outline (TCO) requirements
  • No active disciplinary sanctions on RBT certification
  • Reliable transportation for home-based and community service delivery as applicable
  • Clearance of all required background checks and OIG/SAM.gov exclusion screens
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with children or individuals with autism, developmental disabilities, or related conditions
  • Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently while remaining receptive to supervision and feedback
  • Passion for helping children develop skills that improve their quality of life

Supervision Requirements

RBTs must receive a minimum of 5% of their total monthly direct service hours in supervision from a qualified BCBA or BCaBA. Effective January 1, 2026, only BCBAs and BCaBAs may supervise RBTs in accordance with BACB requirements. Non-certified RBT supervisors are no longer permitted.

  2. Obtain a copy of your high school transcript.
  3. Schedule your RBT competency assessment with Mirabelle Care.
  4. Apply for the BACB RBT examination using:
    • High school transcript
    • 40-hour training certificate
    • Completed competency assessment
  5. Take and pass the RBT examination.
  6. Receive your RBT credential.
  7. Work with the Staffing Coordinator to start the credentialing process.
