Job description

Midsouth Steel, a leader in steel fabrication and construction has an immediate need for a Superintendent in our South Carolina territory. The primary areas of coverage will be from Columbia to Myrtle Beach with occasional travel to outlier areas.
Primary Duties:
The Superintendent will oversee steel installation projects, combining field supervision with business development. Key responsibilities will include managing subcontractors, coordinating deliveries and installations, conducting field measurements, and ensuring jobsite safety. The role also involves building client relationships, generating new leads, and maintaining project documentation through daily reporting.
Responsibilities:
  • Establish leads with current and new customers
  • Initiate prequalification process with customer
  • Develop new business while fostering and maintaining relationships with current clients
  • Find local subcontractors in local market to perform work
  • Assist with installations on job sites
  • Be available to answer install questions
  • Coordinate deliveries and install dates with GC/CM Superintendent
  • Perform field measuring where applicable
  • Train subcontractors on installs and safety making sure that the focus on safety is paramount
  • Schedule deliveries and equipment and ensure subcontractor personnel are on site to receive and inventory deliveries
  • Make sure all equipment is returned to the rental company when the job is completed
  • Manage day-to-day activities of subs including weekly communication with the GC/CM
  • Maintain MSI's plan of activities that are specific to the project, including Production, Shipping, and Installations
  • Complete daily reports of the day's travels and activities, such as sales calls, job site visits, etc.
Other duties:
Other duties and functions appropriate to the position as assigned by the manager from time to time.
Work environment and other requirements:
  • Must have OSHA 30 and we prefer CPR certifications
  • Clean driving record and ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening
  • Have previous experience as a Superintendent or Foreman with additional business development and sales experience
  • Knowledgeable in the steel business with manufacturing and installation experience
