Responsible for providing effective administration of programs and processes within the Human Resources and Payroll Departments. Will coordinate daily operations of assigned programs. Will collaborate with employees and University Managers on behalf of both departments ensuring a timely and efficient service and information are provided as identified and directed. Position will support information systems operations as a part of these responsibilities. Position is highly interactive with others via phone and email, a key component to the individual’s effectiveness in this role.
Essential Functions:
- Administer the Student Work Study Program, within established guideline requirements, to ensure students are provided an effective service and direction when working in and on campus job, either Federal or Institutional Funding. Requires collaboration with other departments/positions to assure a smooth and efficient process.
- Assure effective collaboration with policies and processes identified by the Payroll Department. Requires effective and regular contact with Managers and employees as an essential requirement to assure accurate payroll processing.
- Coordinate and administer assigned HR duties, in collaboration with the International/HR Programs Coordinator, related to GA Program Administration.
- In collaboration with the HR designee, administer effective record keeping processes related to maintaining Academic Credentials as required by HLC rules and guidelines.
- Become an avid user of Paycom including reporting; carry out related assigned duties.
- Provide for assigned auditing and department organization; as well as the entry and maintenance of records and data as assigned.
- Carryout assigned HR projects and programming. Ask questions as needed to be able to effectively learn to master assigned HR priorities.
- Maintain the confidentiality of data and information during performance of duties and follow departmental safeguards for the security and integrity of all data/records.

Graduate Assistant General Information:
A limited number of graduate assistants are available through various departments and campus locations.
The selected candidates will be granted tuition waiver (18 credit hours per year) for one of Ottawa University's graduate programs, a partial meal allowance and a bi-weekly living stipend paid over 12 months. Renewals for a second year are based on the evidence of academic performance and quality execution of assigned duties.
International candidates are only eligible to pursue the on-campus MBA degree of the programs that are offered. International students must also be able to secure an F1 student visa and meet the international admissions criteria for acceptance into the Ottawa University MBA program.
Appointments are generally made to those students who have shown superior aptitude in their field of study as an undergraduate and who appear likely to render a high quality of service to the University through their appointment and service activities.
All Graduate Assistants must be eligible to work in the United States and present the proper documentation to the Human Resources Department prior to beginning their graduate assistantship.
Academic Requirements
An individual must first be accepted and enrolled in an Ottawa University graduate program to be eligible for appointment as a Graduate Assistant. Admission requirements are as follows:
