Job Overview The Engineer in Training (EIT) II is responsible for supporting and maintaining existing and future External Leak Detection Systems (ELDS) utilized within the client's Facilities & HCA Leak Detection Program.

This role focuses on monitoring system performance, troubleshooting issues, supporting compliance testing, maintaining system records, and contributing to ongoing leak detection improvement initiatives. The Facilities & HCA Leak Detection Program is dedicated to mitigating leak risks in facilities, remote sites, and high consequence areas through the implementation of fit-for-purpose external leak detection technologies. The successful candidate will work closely with internal stakeholders including Risk Management, Pipeline Integrity, Facilities Integrity, Field Operations, Controls/Network teams, and external vendors to ensure ELDS reliability, performance, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities Monitor the daily and weekly performance of all installed External Leak Detection Systems (ELDS) Identify early indicators of system performance issues that may lead to false alarms or reduced system reliability Collect and analyze system data including alarm counts, uptime, and outstanding or resolved issues from various monitoring platforms and interfaces Prepare and distribute ELDS performance reports to Leak Detection Management and the Facilities & HCA Leak Detection team Troubleshoot ELDS alarms and identify root causes of system issues Collaborate with Field Operations, Controls/Network teams, vendors, and internal stakeholders to implement corrective actions and system improvements Track issues, resolutions, and corrective actions within JIRA Perform recalibration of ELDS equipment and systems as required Maintain spare parts and equipment inventory records, including quantities and storage locations Coordinate procurement and delivery tracking of spare parts in collaboration with vendors and operational teams Support annual ELDS performance testing and compliance activities Coordinate testing schedules and execution activities with Field Operations and internal stakeholders Collect, document, and report testing results including pass/fail outcomes and supporting details Ensure testing documentation and records are properly maintained within Maximo and JIRA Maintain and update preventive maintenance procedures and distribute revisions through management of change processes Support compliance audits by providing testing, commissioning, and operational records Provide recommendations regarding system improvements and optimization opportunities for future ELDS installations Support project activities including review and approval of reliability periods for new system installations Qualifications Engineering degree or technologist diploma from an accredited university or college, preferably in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field EIT I, EIT II, or equivalent designation preferred Strong analytical, troubleshooting, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite applications Experience with Power BI considered an asset Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams Experience working with monitoring systems, instrumentation, controls, or leak detection systems considered an asset Familiarity with JIRA, Maximo, PI Vision, HMIs, or similar monitoring and asset management systems considered an asset Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and documentation accuracy Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced technical environment Primarily office-based with occasional travel requirements Ability to travel within Canada and to the United States as required Availability to work standard business hours with flexibility to support operational needs when required Please note: Successful applicants will be employees of Raise, working at Enbridge facilities with both Enbridge and contract employees.
