General Purpose of Job:

Responsible for the efficient and accurate preparation and dispensation of medications and other pharmaceuticals according to established operational and chemical procedures, and as prescribed by physicians. Oversee and closely review the work of technical support personnel.

Essential Duties:

This job description is intended to cover the minimum essential duties assigned on a regular basis. Caregivers may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned by their leader. Leadership has the right to alter or modify the duties of the position.

  • Processes prescriptions and insurance billings accurately, timely, and consistent with policies and procedures.
  • Is cognizant of third-party reimbursement procedures, criteria for coverage, and associated computer entry.
  • Monitors daily sales and business transactions, evidencing accounts receivable.
  • Completes drug compounding and patient counseling.
  • Orients new Associates and assists/provides information with Associate evaluations.
  • Effectively communicates with other staff and management by keeping them abreast of relevant patient and operation information.
  • Assists with internal and external audits.
  • Attends mandatory staff and evaluation meetings.
  • Assists with meeting requirements of any required accreditation processes.
  • Participates in and supports perpetual inventory process.

Job Requirements
General Requirements
Valid State of Michigan Pharmacy license in good standing with the State of Michigan Valid State of Michigan Controlled Substance license in good standing with the State of Michigan
Work Experience
Minimum of 2 years of retail pharmacy practice experience
Education
Graduate of an accredited College of Pharmacy
Specialized Knowledge and Skills
Demonstrated ability to effectively supervise technical staff Demonstrated excellent communication skills, verbal and written Demonstrates ability to use a keyboard as may be required to perform the essential duties of the job.
