Whatย youโ€™llย do:

PURPOSE:ย Manages andย facilitatesย patient and procedure flow through theย PACUย and ensures the provision of high-quality patient care on aย day-to-dayย basis.ย ย Monitors the dailyย PACUย schedule,ย expeditingย procedures as necessary, communicating changes/needs to other departments.ย ย Monitors the daily assignments of theย PACUย staff.ย 

ACCOUNTABILITIES:ย (include, but are not limited to)ย 

  • Monitors patient flow through theย PACUย andย anticipateย staffing needs.ย 

  • Assumes responsibility for daily operations of theย PACUย for assignedย shift.ย 

  • Complete daily staff assignmentsย no later thanย one day in advance and post inย PACUย ย 

  • Approves staff leaving prior to end of assigned shift after consulting with leadershipย 

  • Facilitates/expeditesย PACUย schedule to keep cases on time as much as possible.ย 

  • Monitors any changes in theย PACUย schedule, e.g., delays, starting early. Communicates changes toย PACUย staff,ย OR Charge Nurse,ย Schedulerย andย leadership.ย 

  • Assistsย leadership with ancillary audits,ย projectionsย or other duties as designatedย 

  • Collaborates with the front office staffย and Schedulerย onย intakeย process as needed.ย 

  • Collaborates with the surgeon and PA on missing orders, H&P or DME as needed.ย ย 

  • Evaluates readiness for patientย discharge andย collaborates with the anesthesiologist in the discharge process.ย ย 

  • Reportsย and completes the Incident Reports forย any potential or actual adverse event asย appropriate.ย 

  • Documents clearly andย maintainsย the patient record.ย ย 

  • Maintains pleasant and open communication with patients, families,ย staffย and physicians.ย 

  • In addition to Charge Nurse duties, on an as needed basis, performsย duties of PACU nurseย toย cover PTO, unexpectedย absencesย and other staffing assignments, as needed.ย 

  • Othersย duties, as assignedย 

KNOWLEDGE:ย 

  • Familiarity with HIPAA,ย policies, procedures,ย and other regulatory policiesย ย 

  • Medical office procedures, policies, practices and medical terminology, telephoneย protocolย and professional etiquetteย

Who you are:

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:ย Graduate of an accredited school of nursingย 

EXPERIENCE:ย Minimumย threeย yearsย of recentย PACUย nursing preferred.ย
