Job Description

The Technical Sales Engineer - Early Career / Development Program is a fast-track role designed for high-potential new graduates who bring strong engineering fundamentals, an entrepreneurial mindset, and a passion for working directly with customers to help solve complex design and validation test challenges.

Through a structured 6-12 month development program, located primarily in Chestnut Ridge NY, you will build deep technical expertise, develop consultative sales capabilities, and establish the foundation to grow into a high-impact member of our sales organization- ultimately advancing into a Field Sales Engineer role where you will lead strategic customer engagements, influence next-generation technology adoption, and drive measurable sales growth.

Detailed Duties and Responsibilities:

Customer Engagement & Territory Ownership

  • Upon successful completion of the Teledyne Sales Development Program, you will be fielded as a Sales Engineer and engage directly with customers in your assigned territory.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of strategic account plans and play an active role in advancing key opportunities.
  • Prepare customer-facing materials such as proposals, quotations, technical value statements, and follow-up communications.
  • Build meaningful relationships with design, validation, and test engineering teams.

Technical Demonstrations & Solution Positioning

  • Deliver compelling demonstrations of Teledyne LeCroy's oscilloscopes, including high-speed serial test solutions, power integrity analysis, and automotive bus decoding tools, to both engineering teams and executive audiences.
  • Translate complex signal integrity, timing, power, and serial data concepts into clear and accessible explanations for diverse technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Partner closely with Field Applications Engineers, Product Management, and Marketing to address customer requirements and emerging technology trends.

Required Education, Skills, and Experience:

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a closely related technical discipline.

Technical Skills & Competencies

  • Strong understanding of electronics fundamentals, including circuits, signals, digital systems, and embedded/ECU-level architectures.
  • Ability to quickly learn and apply high-speed serial test methods, oscilloscope measurement techniques, and emerging high speed serial electrical standards.
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret waveforms, debug issues, and reason through complex system behavior.
  • Genuine interest in working at the intersection of engineering, customer engagement, and business development, with the ability to translate technical insights into customer value.

Experience

  • 0-2 years of experience gained through internships, co-ops, senior design projects, competitive engineering teams, or hands-on lab coursework. Practical experience with electronics, high-speed interfaces, and measurement tools (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, power analyzers) is strongly preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong communication and presentation skills; ability to explain complex topics clearly.
  • Experience delivering technical content or demonstrating engineering concepts (classroom, lab, or project settings).
  • Exposure to automotive electronics, power electronics, and high-speed serial interfaces (PCIe, USB, DDR, and Ethernet).
  • Experience with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, or measurement tools in lab or project environments.
  • Leadership experience in engineering teams, student organizations, or project-based environments.
  • GPA of 3.3 or higher preferred.

  • Willing to relocate to Chestnut Ridge, NY during the development program, and later to the assigned territory.

Salary Range:

$62,800.00-$83,700.000

Actual compensation for successful candidates is carefully determined based on several factors including, but not limited to, location, local regulations (such as minimum wage), education/training, work experience, key skills, and type of position.
