Build what moves the world—lead a precision machining team at Amsted Rail

Quality rail components keep global freight on the move. As the Manufacturing Team Lead, Precision Machining, you’ll orchestrate people, processes, and equipment to deliver safe, reliable output every night. You’ll collaborate across maintenance, engineering, and leadership to remove friction, elevate standards, and grow your team.

Your impact
  • Model uncompromising safety and environmental stewardship per Amsted Rail’s Health & Safety program; lead nightly safety talks.
  • Maintain a working command of all roles in your area to provide real-time support.
  • Ensure materials and tooling are ready; coordinate with maintenance and engineering to protect the schedule.
  • Develop people—set clear expectations, recognize excellence, and coach for improvement.
  • Reinforce standards via training, mentoring, and audits focused on safety and quality.
  • Verify part quality, address defects immediately, and drive corrective action.
  • Assist with changeovers, attachments, and machine adjustments for multiple lines/cells.
  • Apply safe practices using hand and power tools.
  • Capture accurate production data in enterprise systems.
  • Interpret process sequences, specifications, and final part dimensions.
Precision machining focus
  • Select CNC programs within machine control units to initiate operations.
  • Execute preventive maintenance tasks to sustain equipment readiness.
  • Troubleshoot equipment faults and part compliance issues to restore flow.
What you need
  • Successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull 10–50 lbs.
  • Ability to wear required employer-provided PPE.
  • Stamina to stand and move throughout the department for the full shift.
  • Mechanical aptitude is a must; prior industrial and front-line leadership experience preferred.
