About Us
We are a mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP); building automation; and industrial piping contractor. Our team offers a variety of MEP and process piping services, including design-build engineering for new construction and renovation, installation and specialty construction, maintenance, and air balancing, start-up, and energy efficiency services.
Job Summary
DeBra-Kuempel is seeking a highly experienced and driven professional to lead business development efforts for large-scale HVAC construction projects (typically greater than $2M). This role combines technical expertise, sales strategy, engineering insight, and strong client-facing communication skills. The ideal candidate is adept at guiding complex opportunities from initial client engagement through contract execution and turnover to operations.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Sell HVAC construction projects to general contractors and building owners (>$2M)
  • Build, maintain, and expand relationships with key General Contractors and business owner partners.
  • Perform estimating and/or thoroughly review HVAC project estimates with project engineers and estimators.
  • Clearly understand customer needs and coordinate with staff engineers to provide engineering and constructability solutions to optimize project approaches.
  • Prepare detailed proposals outlining scope, inclusions, exclusions, and clarifications.
  • Support the turnover process, ensuring an effective transition to operations teams.
  • Negotiate project contract language to align with company and project objectives.
  • Advocate for favorable cash flow and retention terms to strengthen financial performance.
  • Conduct Lunch & Learn presentations and other client engagement activities to promote company capabilities.
  • Performs all other duties as required or assigned to support the success of the role and the organization.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, construction management, engineering technology, or a related field preferred.
  • Associate degree in HVAC, engineering technology, or construction technology considered.
  • Equivalent combination of education and industry experience will also be considered.
  • Minimum 5 years of HVAC systems knowledge and relevant technical understanding.
  • Existing relationships with key general contractors and project owners.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; willingness to learn additional software tools.
  • Willingness to learn additional industry-specific software as required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with an ability to influence at multiple levels.
  • Ability to travel locally up to 50% for customer meetings, presentations, site visits and client events.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain an acceptable driving record to support required local travel.
