Join a well-established, physician-led neuroscience program with 30 years of history serving Southern Arizona. You'll practice complex spine surgery, neurotrauma, skull base surgery, and cerebrovascular care alongside a cohesive, multidisciplinary team, backed by state-of-the-art technology and a dedicated Physician Assistant, Medical Assistant, and Program Coordinator assigned to your practice. A neurosurgeon-led Neuroendovascular team manages stroke and cerebrovascular services, letting you focus on your clinical practice while benefiting from comprehensive neuroscience support. This is a rare opportunity to build a career within a respected, collaborative program at a Level I Trauma Center.
Position Highlights
Practice & Role
  • Employed, full-time Neurosurgery position with Western Neuro, a 30-year established practice
  • Spine fellowship training preferred; new graduates welcome to apply
  • Join a cohesive multidisciplinary team with decades of experience
  • Established referral network and strong regional reputation
  • Dedicated Physician Assistant assigned to each neurosurgeon for clinic, first assist, inpatient rounds, and call coverage
  • Dedicated Medical Assistant assigned to each neurosurgeon
  • Dedicated Program Coordinator supporting clinic and surgical scheduling

Schedule & Call
  • OR block time: minimum 2 days per week
  • Clinic on non-operative days, with inpatient rounding before clinic and between cases as needed
  • Clinic volume: 12-14 patients per day
  • Surgical volume: 4-6 surgeries per week average, higher while on call
  • Call coverage: one hospital, Carondelet St. Joseph's Hospital (Level I Trauma Center)
  • Call schedule: 1:5 rotation, one-week blocks (Monday-Monday)
  • Full PA support during call, 30-minute response time requirement

OR & Technology
  • Four dedicated Neurosurgical Operating Rooms
  • Two ORs with Intraoperative CT and BrainLab BrainSuite technology
  • Two ORs with comprehensive neuronavigation capabilities

Established in 1961, St. Josephs Hospital in Tucson is home to the Carondelet Neurological Institute and the Carondelet Joint Replacement Center. The hospital offers advanced care that includes a Level I Trauma Center, Comprehensive Stroke Center and spacious and comfortable labor and delivery units.
