Function/Duties of Position

Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) is seeking a BC/BE child neurologist with fellowship training or demonstrated expertise in pediatric vascular neurology to join our growing division of pediatric neurology at Doernbecher Children's Hospital.

This is an exceptional opportunity to join the only comprehensive pediatric stroke program in Oregon and work alongside an established pediatric stroke neurologist in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in the acute and outpatient care of children with stroke, and other pediatric cerebrovascular disorders while helping to expand clinical care, education, and research.

Clinical Responsibilities

Provide inpatient and outpatient care for infants, children, and adolescents with pediatric cerebrovascular disease. Participate in acute stroke evaluation and management, collaborating with emergency medicine, neuroradiology, neurointerventional radiology, neurosurgery, hematology, cardiology, rehabilitation services, and intensive care teams. Program development involves joining with our close collaboration with colleagues hospital-wide and developing regional algorithms for acute stroke care by collaborating with pediatric neurologists at other Portland hospitals and emergency room physicians across the region. Share call responsibilities within the Division of Pediatric Neurology.

Develop subspecialty clinics and clinical programs aligned with the candidate's interests.

The pediatric stroke program actively participates in national and international collaborative research and offers opportunities for involvement in multicenter clinical studies, clinical guideline development, and trainee education. The division is active in clinical research with dedicated clinical research assistants to implement research studies.

Teaching

Faculty participate in the education of pediatric neurology residents, adult neurology residents, pediatric residents, medical students, and trainees in other divisions (e.g. pediatric intensive care, emergency medicine) through inpatient service, outpatient clinics, conferences, and didactic teaching. Potential for development of a pediatric stroke fellowship program.

Required Qualifications
  • MD or DO (or equivalent)
  • Board certified or board eligible in Child Neurology
  • Fellowship training in Vascular Neurology, Pediatric Stroke, Neurocritical Care, or equivalent experience in pediatric cerebrovascular disease is preferred
  • Eligibility for medical licensure in Oregon
