Join Our Team as a Human Resources Intern (Onboarding)!

Are you interested in the Human Resources field and making a real difference in the nonprofit sector? EAC Network, a leading not-for-profit social service agency dedicated to helping over 79,000 people through 100 impactful programs across Long Island and NYC, is looking for a Human Resources Intern for Onboarding  to join the HR department. The Internship opportunity is unpaid offering a fantastic opportunity for students seeking college credit or course requirements.

Salary: Unpaid 

Schedule: Flexibility to work up to 20 hours per week. The hours of operation are Monday-Friday 9:00AM-5:00PM

Location: 99 Quentin Roosevelt Blvd Suite 200 in Garden City, NY

What drives the core purpose of this job:

The goal of the internship is for the intern to be engaged in learning & understanding the functions of HR, Onboarding and Recruitment within the Human Resources Department.  

What are the key responsibilities:

  1. Assist with pre-hire onboarding process:
    1. Assist with conducting pre-employment checks.
    2. Gather candidate paperwork e-filing into digital employee files.
    3. Prepare new hire orientation packets.
    4. Prepare onboarding kits (stationary, t-shirts, company swag)
    5. Assisting Onboarding Manager during new hire orientation.
    6. Coordinate New Hire Training Plan completion.
    7. Assist in processing I-9 and E-verification documents.  
  2. Assist with Recruiting efforts such as:
    1. Constructing recruiting flyers.
  3. Assist in other areas of HR department with clerical workload as needed.
  4. Perform all other relevant duties as determined by Supervision and EAC NETWORK Administration.

What key knowledge, skills, and abilities are required to excel in this role:

  1. Some knowledge of computer applications or other automated systems such as spreadsheets, Microsoft Office applications, calendar, and email and/or database software necessary to perform work assignments a big plus.
  2. Must have pleasant phone manner and good interpersonal skills.
  3. Excellent organizational skills.
  4. Able to conduct self in a professional manner.
