Job description

The Network Engineering team is responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of the bank network. This includes identifying new technologies to meet business needs, working through project-based implementations, and day-to-day support of the network. The team also works closely with other technical teams within the bank to assist in their projects and troubleshooting of system issues. Their efforts ensure peak performance to avoid business disruptions.
As a Network Administrator, you will focus on team adherence to network quality standards and performing advanced operations activities and maintenance duties including incident response, moves/adds/changes to equipment installation/de-installation and general care-and-feeding of network equipment. You will work extensively with Network Engineers to ensure successful handoffs of new technologies, tools, and procedures to network operational teams. This is a subset of the overall responsibilities which involves multiple other initiatives as assigned by IT leadership.
This role is hybrid (Mon through Thu on-site / Fri remote) at the UMB Technology & Operations Center located in downtown Kansas City, MO.
How you will spend your time:
  • Perform standard operations and maintenance duties, including incident response, moves/adds/changes to include equipment installation/de-installation, and general care-and-feeding of networking equipment.
  • Create and maintain documentation of operational processes.
  • Perform advanced operational activities for capacity planning, switch port usage, bandwidth usage and backup power systems.
  • Provide status updates and escalations to management according to prescribed practices including validating business resumption and Disaster Recovery functionality, documentation and proactive maintenance.
  • Work with a project team setting up network circuits, routers, switches and phones for new business offices.
  • Travel to various branches and locations periodically to assist in property buildouts or network issues.

We are excited to talk if you have:
  • At least 2 years of network operation experience working with routers, switches, and various netork monitoring tools.
  • Experience in Network Performance Tuning and configuration, WAN/LAN Knowledge, IP addressing/DHCP/DNS Knowledge, and Network Implementation.
  • Strong problem solving, strategic planning, quality focus, and coordination experience.
  • Experience working with Telco vendors and troubleshooting circuits and phone lines.

Bonus Points if you have:
  • Any of the following certifications: CCNA, CCNP, JNCIA, JNCIP.
  • In-depth experience with any of these areas: Juniper, Cisco, Wireless technologies, ServiceNow.

Targeted compensation for this opening: The posted salary range reflects the broadest standard range for this role, including all locations. The anticipated compensation for this specific position is $80,000 - $91,000. This role is also eligible for annual incentive pay.
