Job description

Job Summary:
NEOGOV is a part of the Lancaster County Government, and they are seeking a Network Technician to assist with the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the countyโ€™s network and communications systems. The role focuses on maintaining reliable connectivity and supporting network infrastructure across county facilities.
Responsibilities:
โ€ข Assist with installation, configuration, and maintenance of network infrastructure including switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless access points.
โ€ข Monitor and troubleshoot network connectivity issues involving LAN, WAN, and wireless networks.
โ€ข Provide Tier 1/2 support for network-related service requests and incidents.
โ€ข Assist with deployment and replacement of network hardware including switches, access points, and related equipment.
โ€ข Perform physical network work including patching, cabling, fiber terminations, and troubleshooting connectivity issues.
โ€ข Support configuration and troubleshooting of network technologies such as VLANs, QoS, and basic switching and routing.
โ€ข Assist with maintaining accurate documentation of network infrastructure including diagrams, equipment inventory, and configuration records.
โ€ข Participate in routine maintenance tasks including firmware updates, hardware replacements, and network equipment testing.
โ€ข Assist with maintaining network asset inventory and tracking equipment lifecycle.
โ€ข Work with the Network Administrator to diagnose and resolve network performance or connectivity issues.

Qualifications:
Required:
โ€ข Associate degree in Networking, Information Technology, or related field with at least one (1) year of networking or IT infrastructure experience; or three (3) years of relevant networking or IT infrastructure experience.
โ€ข Basic understanding of networking concepts including Ethernet, TCP/IP, VLANs, and wireless networking.
โ€ข Experience troubleshooting network connectivity and physical network infrastructure.
โ€ข Understanding of copper and fiber cabling standards and related physical networking technologies.
โ€ข Must have a valid driverโ€™s license, clean driving record, and be able to pass an FBI / CJIS fingerprint and background check.
โ€ข Has thorough knowledge of the methods, procedures, and policies of the Information Technology Department as they pertain to the performance of duties of the Network Technician.
โ€ข Has knowledge of the laws, ordinances, standards, and regulations pertaining to the specific duties and responsibilities of the position.
โ€ข Has knowledge in the areas of computer technology and maintenance, information systems management, data processing, etc.
โ€ข Has working knowledge of varying business operations and is able to design / implement computer applications to meet business needs.
โ€ข Can effectively determine appropriate hardware and software requirements for various County operations.
