Status: Contract to Hire

Position Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Network Administrator to join our IT team and support the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and optimization of our enterprise network environment. This role will focus on hands-on network administration, troubleshooting, and implementation, while partnering closely with senior engineering staff on larger initiatives and architectural improvements.

The ideal candidate is a strong technical contributor who is comfortable working independently on routine operational tasks, while continuing to grow into more advanced engineering responsibilities over time. This role does not own network architecture decisions but executes against established standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Configure, maintain, and support LAN, WAN, wireless, and VPN environments in a primarily Cisco-based infrastructure
  • Perform day-to-day network operations, including monitoring, troubleshooting, and incident response
  • Diagnose and resolve network performance issues across switching, routing, and connectivity layers
  • Implement network changes in accordance with ITIL-based change management processes
  • Support and maintain network security configurations, including firewalls, ACLs, and VPN tunnels
  • Assist with network upgrades, hardware replacements, and system implementations
  • Monitor network performance and capacity
  • Maintain accurate network documentation, diagrams, and operational procedures
  • Support cloud and hybrid connectivity, including VPNs and basic cloud networking components (Azure preferred)
  • Assist in maintaining and supporting VoIP infrastructure
  • Collaborate with vendors and service providers for issue resolution and service delivery
  • Participate in on-call rotation or after-hours support as needed

Required Education, Experience, And Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)

Certifications (Preferred)

  • Cisco CCNA (strongly preferred)
  • Progress toward CCNP or equivalent is a plus

Experience

  • 3 – 5+ years of experience in network administration or network engineering roles
  • Hands-on experience supporting Cisco routing and switching environments
  • Experience working in a production enterprise environment

Skills And Technical Expertise

  • Strong working knowledge of switching concepts (VLANs, STP, trunking, EtherChannel, QoS)
  • Practical experience with routing protocols such as OSPF and EIGRP (BGP exposure is a plus)
  • Experience configuring and supporting network security technologies (ACLs, NAT/PAT, IPSec VPNs)
  • Familiarity with Cisco Catalyst environments (Nexus exposure is a plus)
  • Understanding of core network services such as DNS and DHCP
  • Familiarity with cloud and hybrid networking concepts, particularly in Microsoft Azure
  • Experience with network monitoring and troubleshooting tools
  • Familiarity with RADIUS / AAA for authentication is a plus
  • Exposure to VoIP systems (e.g., RingCentral) is a plus
