SUMMARY
Our client, an Employer of Choice headquartered in the Metro Detroit area, is seeking an experienced and technically strong IT Infrastructure leader with emphasis on Cisco networking. This person will combine hands-on technical expertise with team leadership responsibilities, partnering closely with executive IT leadership and ultimately assuming full ownership of infrastructure operations through structured transition and knowledge transfer.
This is a highly visible, hands-on leadership position requiring strong engagement during critical incidents and a commitment to operational excellence.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Enterprise Networking
Strong Cisco networking expertise is the #1 requirement.
Looking for someone who is essentially a Cisco guru.
Experience with:
o Cisco networking technologies
o Cisco data center environments
o Cisco Nexus / Nexus OS (highly preferred)
CCNA or CCNP certification would be ideal.
Technical Requirements
Must Have
Advanced Cisco networking experience
Enterprise networking architecture
Ability to troubleshoot and support complex network environments
Nice to Have
Cisco Nexus / Nexus OS
CCNA or CCNP certification
Lower Priority
Hyper-V experience
o Team is willing to have a gap here.
Architect, implement, and maintain secure enterprise network environments, including Cisco-based routing and switching infrastructure.
Oversee VLAN configuration, routing protocols, redundancy strategies, and secure segmentation practices.
Administer and optimize firewall platforms, with preference for Palo Alto technologies.
Design and maintain VPN connectivity and secure remote access solutions.
Lead cybersecurity infrastructure initiatives, including firewall governance, access control strategies, and segmentation standards.
Drive incident response efforts, remediation activities, and risk reduction initiatives in collaboration with IT leadership.
Support internal and external security audits and contribute to overall risk management strategy.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Bachelor s degree in Information Systems, Engineering, or related discipline (or equivalent professional experience).
5+ years of progressive experience in enterprise IT infrastructure environments.
2+ years of experience in a senior engineering, technical lead, or supervisory capacity. (nice to have)
Demonstrated hands-on expertise in enterprise networking, firewall and security platforms, Microsoft Storage Spaces Direct (S2D), Windows Failover Clustering, and SQL Server High Availability.
Proven strength in troubleshooting, incident management, documentation, and cross-functional communication.
