As a Network Systems Administrator at Rincon, you will lead our efforts to execute the deployment, maintenance, and continued operations of our network infrastructure. As part of your role, you will work with IT function leads, program managers, customers, and telecommunications vendors to ensure connectivity, performance, and to continuously improve network capabilities. You will be involved in all areas of network delivery, including architecture, installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and service expansion.

What are the primary responsibilities in the Sr. Network Systems Administrator position?

  • Build, deploy, maintain, and continuously improve the network's operations across Rincon and the customer systems we support.
  • Execute and manage monthly operations cycles, monitoring, maintenance, compliance, and optimization of networking infrastructure.
  • Proactively plan and execute network upgrades, capacity improvements, and technology evolutions.
  • Implement system-level security controls and perform day-to-day security operations of the network.
  • Create and maintain documentation, including user guides, knowledge base articles, change requests, and system maintenance records.
  • Establish and maintain standards of network administration and development practices, such as technical design, solution development, systems configuration, and operations procedures.
  • Monitor, manage, and report on information system performance, security, availability, and recoverability.
  • Collaborate across other IT functions (Infrastructure, Security, Windows, Linux, Service Desk) and external vendors for issue resolution.

What required background will make you successful?

  • Active TS/SCI + Poly Security Clearance
  • US CITIZENSHIP REQUIRED
Certification
  • Requires security certification in compliance with DOD 8570 within 90 days of hire
  • Requires professional certification in one or more areas within 6 months of hire
    • Examples include CCNA, AWS Associate, or role-relevant Windows or Linux certifications.
Education, Experience
  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or other related discipline. Can be substituted with 5+ years of experience.

Preferred skills:

  • Advanced understanding of enterprise-level campus and data center network design and optimization.
  • Experience managing and maintaining Cisco, Arista, and VPN hardware.
  • Experience supporting and operating within air-gapped environments and segmented networks.
  • Working experience in building, monitoring, and optimizing VPN topologies (Full Mesh, Point-to-Point, Hub and Spoke), both on-site and across different geographic locations
  • Ability to configure and troubleshoot advanced networking protocols, including SDWAN, Multicast, VLANs, Routing, Switching, Firewalls, Spanning Tree, and others.
  • Experience in monitoring network performance (latency, bandwidth utilization, packet loss).
  • Experience collaborating with external partners, customers, and network providers.
  • Experience with documenting network infrastructure, maintaining configuration baselines.
  • Experience in asset lifecycle management and IPAM processes to ensure operational visibility and compliance.
  • Advanced experience with security implementation to create and maintain compliance baselines.
  • Hands-on experience automating network deployment and day-to-day operational tasks to improve efficiency and consistency with configuration management concepts and tooling, including CI/CD platforms with GitLab.
  • Experience with scripting or programming skills in a language such as PowerShell, Python, Bash, or Go.
  • Experience with a configuration management tool such as Ansible or Puppet.
  • Familiarity with Linux-based systems administration (RHEL, CentOS, Rocky).
