Is sysadmin entry level?

A network system administrator role is typically not entry-level and usually requires several years of experience in networking, systems, or related fields. Entry-level positions in IT may be labeled as help desk or support technician, while sysadmin roles often demand knowledge of operating systems, scripting, and network protocols, along with relevant certifications like CompTIA Network+ or Cisco CCNA.

What is a Network System Admin?

A Network System Admin, or Network Systems Administrator, is a professional responsible for managing, maintaining, and securing an organization’s computer networks and related systems. They ensure that network hardware and software run efficiently, troubleshoot issues, and implement upgrades or security measures as needed. Network System Admins also monitor network performance, manage user access, and may assist with disaster recovery planning. Their role is critical in keeping an organization's communication and data systems operational and secure.

How much does a sysadmin earn?

A network system administrator's salary varies based on experience, location, and certifications, but the median annual wage in many regions ranges from $60,000 to $85,000.
