What is a Network Surveillance Engineer?

A Network Surveillance Engineer is an IT professional responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and maintaining the health and security of computer networks. They use specialized tools to detect network issues, outages, or performance bottlenecks and often respond to incidents to minimize downtime. Their role is crucial in ensuring network reliability, security, and optimal performance, particularly in organizations that depend on complex or large-scale network infrastructure.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Network Surveillance Engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Network Surveillance Engineer, you need a solid understanding of network protocols, troubleshooting, and monitoring, often supported by a degree in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with network management tools like Wireshark, SolarWinds, SNMP, and relevant certifications such as CCNA or CompTIA Network+ are typically required.
