Job Description

Required Experience/Knowledge/Skill

  • Servicing mission critical computer and network equipment with multiple location user base of no less than 200 workstations and 10 servers
  • MS Virtual Servers (VMware)
  • Thorough and extensive experience working with Windows 7, 8.1, & 10 Operating Systems
  • Thorough and extensive experience working with multiple Windows network server platforms (i.e. 2008, 2012)
  • Thorough and extensive experience working with Microsoft System Center software
  • Thorough and extensive experience working with Microsoft Exchange (2010, 2013) to include migrations
  • Thorough and extensive experience working with FortiNet and Cisco Firewall hardware/software
  • Thorough and extensive experience working with large-scale storage devices (StoneFly, Buffalo & TerraStation)
  • Thorough and extensive experience working with VOIP phone systems (Cisco, Zultys, Avaya)
  • Certified in and working knowledge/experience with the standards of security of the Supreme Court of Virginia for the design and implementation of secure network infrastructures
  • Certified in and working knowledge/experience with the standards of security of Virginia State Police with regards to VCIN, LiveScan, and related Firewall security practices
  • Work closely with the IT Department to coordinate Network Service calls.
  • Respond to Service requests with pre-qualified technical service personnel
  • Provide complete confidentiality and security for all computers, networks, data, hard drives and other computer media, information owned or generated by or associated with the work performed on behalf ofย 
  • Install, configure support and document network server hardware. Installation shall include where applicable, delivery, unloading, uncrating, assembling in server rack structures or fixtures as required, the connection of all components of the system, and all other related work including the final burn in of the system as needed.
  • Diagnose and repair computer hardware and peripheral equipment such as personal computers, laptops, tablets, monitors, printers, scanners, keyboards, cameras, and other equipment when IT Staff is not in the office.
  • Diagnose and repair network hardware and peripheral equipment such as hubs, switches, routers, media converters, fiber optic repeaters, network connections, and test/evaluate new hardware as needed.
  • Perform general maintenance tasks necessary to keep equipment, which may include inspecting/testing equipment and reporting faulty equipment.
  • Accomplish or attempt hard drive recovery and return when IT Staff is not in the office.
  • Maintain documentation of services provided to each item of equipment for evaluation and provide the IT Staff with copies of the documentation.
  • Comply with all software licensing agreements and requirements that apply to its employees, third-party contractors, and work with the IT Staff to ascertain and document licensed software inventory and expiration dates.
  • Support the IT Staff in maintaining all network, hardware, and peripheral warranty information and notify of expiration and renewal procedures.
  • Coordinate troubleshooting with telecommunications providers when outages occur that affect data, voice and fax services if the IT Staff is out of the office.
  • Optionally, provide an Information Technology disaster recovery plan and arrange for disaster recovery services.

IT hardware and software to be familiar with:

  • Microsoft Active Directory network
  • FortiNet Firewall/Client The Internet
  • FortiMail eMail security
  • Thirty (30) network servers (includes ten VM servers)
  • Printer hardware support for twenty (20) HP LaserJet series printers
  • Remotely connect to the network to assist IT staff with problem resolution.

Respond to staff calls for emergency support services in the absence of IT staff primarily for the VCIN connectivity issues, due to service interruption.

Assist with the final migration from Microsoft Exchange 2010 to 2013.

Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor s Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or other related scientific or technical discipline or, at least, three ย (3) solid years of equivalent experience in Network Administration.
