Job description

We're Hiring: Systems Integration Engineer
Location: Victor, NY | Full-Time
IK Systems is seeking a Systems Integration Engineer to configure, integrate, and commission enterprise security and low-voltage systems for mission-critical clients. This role serves as the technical bridge between field installation and advanced enterprise configuration, ensuring that video management, access control, intrusion, and supporting server and network infrastructure operate reliably before customer handoff.
What You'll Do
  • Configure and integrate video management, access control, intrusion, intercom, and analytics platforms with underlying server and network infrastructure.
  • Implement system configurations, including user and group structures, permissions, alarm rules, recording schedules, event workflows, and reporting within approved design standards.
  • Validate engineering designs and submittals, ensuring bills of material, drawings, and configurations align with project scope and performance requirements; identify and escalate discrepancies as needed.
  • Collaborate with Field Deployment Engineers to bring devices online, complete system commissioning checklists, and transition projects from installation to full system operation.
  • Perform advanced system testing, including end-to-end functional tests, failover and redundancy tests, and performance tuning to ensure stability and reliability.
  • Troubleshoot complex issues escalated from the field using logs, diagnostics, and vendor tools to drive problems to root cause and permanent resolution.
  • Configure and support server and network components related to integrated systems (e.g., Windows Server, virtual machines, basic routing and switching, VLANs, firewall rules) within established design guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate and current system documentation, including IP addressing schemes, database information, configuration backups, logical diagrams, and as-built records.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers on cutovers, migrations, and go-lives, including occasional after-hours work to minimize customer impact.
  • Provide training and knowledge transfer to Field Deployment Engineers, Technicians, and customer stakeholders on system operation, workflows, and basic troubleshooting.
What You Bring
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, information technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of combined experience with low-voltage systems, IT infrastructure, or security system deployment, including at least 3 years focused on configuration, integration, or commissioning.

Skills
  • Strong working knowledge of IP networking concepts (TCP/IP, subnets, VLANs, basic routing, DHCP/DNS) and switch configuration.
  • Experience configuring and supporting Windows-based servers, virtual machines, and storage for security or enterprise applications.
  • Hands-on experience integrating at least one enterprise security platform (such as video management, access control, or unified security systems).
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, riser diagrams, and system schematics, and to troubleshoot issues across device, application, server, and network layers.

Certifications / Licenses
  • Valid Driver's License and ability to travel regionally to customer sites as needed.

Preferred Qualifications
Preferred qualifications include vendor or platform certifications with major security system manufacturers (for example, Genetec, Milestone, Lenel, Avigilon, Axis, Bosch) and networking or server certifications such as BICSI, NICET, Cisco, CompTIA, or Microsoft. Experience with SQL/database fundamentals, AutoCAD or Revit for reviewing and marking up system drawings, scripting or automation tools to support configuration and deployment, and prior experience mentoring technicians or junior engineers is also beneficial.
Why Join IK Systems?
We offer a stable, growth-oriented environment where engineering and technical excellence are valued.
  • Competitive salary
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • Retirement plan with company match
  • Paid time off and company holidays
  • Professional development and certification support
