Building Reliable Networks, Enabling Innovation, and Supporting Institutional Excellence
The Network Engineer is responsible for supporting, maintaining, troubleshooting, and monitoring the college's enterprise network infrastructure and security systems. This position works under the direction of senior network engineers and IT leadership to ensure the availability, security, and performance of wired, wireless, voice, and physical security systems.
The ideal candidate will have experience with Fortinet products, network troubleshooting, and enterprise networking fundamentals. This position provides operational support for campus network services, security platforms, Zoom Phone, and Verkada security systems.
This position may require occasional evening, weekend, and emergency maintenance work to support critical infrastructure upgrades and incident response activities.
Key Responsibilities
35% Network Infrastructure Support
  • Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot Fortinet network and security solutions.
  • Support and maintain FortiGate, FortiSwitch, FortiAP, FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer, FortiAuthenticator, FortiNAC, FortiEMS, and FortiPAM.
  • Assist with network deployments, upgrades, and maintenance activities.
  • Monitor network performance and respond to alerts and incidents.
  • Troubleshoot Layer 1 through Layer 7 connectivity, performance, and security issues across wired, wireless, voice, and application environments.
  • Support VLANs, routing, switching, DHCP, DNS, VPNs, and wireless networking.
  • Maintain network documentation, diagrams, and operational procedures.

20% Security Operations
  • Assist with firewall policy management and security monitoring.
  • Monitor security events using FortiAnalyzer and other security tools.
  • Support endpoint security and Zero Trust initiatives through FortiEMS and FortiNAC.
  • Participate in vulnerability remediation and security incident response activities.
  • Maintain compliance with organizational security policies and standards.

20% Voice and Collaboration Systems
  • Support Zoom Phone administration and troubleshooting.
  • Assist users with call routing, auto attendants, call queues, and phone provisioning.
  • Coordinate with vendors and service providers to resolve voice-related issues.

20% Physical Security Systems
  • Support Verkada camera systems and related infrastructure.
  • Assist with camera deployments, troubleshooting, firmware updates, and monitoring.

Minimum Qualifications
Education
  • Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Networking, or related field; or equivalent experience.

Experience
  • 1-3 years of experience supporting enterprise network infrastructure.
  • CCNA and NSE 4, or Network+ and NSE 4

Preferred Experience
  • Experience with FortiGate firewalls in an enterprise environment.
  • Experience with FortiSwitch and FortiAP deployments.
  • Experience with FortiManager and FortiAnalyzer.
  • Experience with FortiNAC, FortiAuthenticator, FortiEMS, or FortiPAM.
  • Experience supporting Zoom Phone and Verkada systems.
  • CompTIA Security+ certification.
