What's in Your Future as a Systems Engineer?

Systems Engineers are responsible for providing engineering support for LAN, WAN, WLAN, network security, secure remote access, data center, virtualization, and storage environments for Managed Services members. This includes both new member implementations and the ongoing maintenance and enhancement of existing infrastructure.

In this role, you will collaborate with internal teams, support member projects, evaluate emerging technologies, and help HTC continuously improve its technical capabilities and service offerings. You will also provide Sales Engineering support, assist with member solutions, and contribute to maintaining a high level of member satisfaction.

Systems Engineers are also responsible for:

  • Providing engineering support for network, security, virtualization, storage, and data center infrastructure environments.
  • Consulting with Sales Engineering teams to support HTC Business Services member opportunities.
  • Working with internal HTC teams to troubleshoot member issues and deliver exceptional member experiences.
  • Monitoring, developing, and maintaining HTC's competitive technical capabilities, service offerings, quality of service, and pricing strategies.
  • Staying informed on industry developments, technology advancements, new projects, and market trends related to communications, networking, cybersecurity, virtualization, and cloud technologies.
  • Evaluating, testing, and facilitating the adoption of new technologies and service capabilities within HTC's portfolio of services.
  • Performing lab testing, validation, and documentation of new technologies and procedures within the Professional Services team.
  • Collaborating with HTC Project Coordinators to ensure projects are delivered on time and meet member expectations.
  • Monitoring alerts generated by network management and monitoring applications and responding appropriately.
  • Participating in an after-hours call rotation to support member and operational needs.
  • Assisting other areas within the Plant Operations Department as needed.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned to support the overall objectives of the department.

This position may have varied levels of responsibilities and pay opportunities. Consideration of relevant skills, knowledge, and prior experience are factors used to determine selection and placement of applicant.

 For this role, you also must have:

A Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university or equivalent experience.

Must have four years of related experience and/or training working with computers. Experience working with computers in a network environment is required.

Advanced computer skills including working experience with the following: MS Office, Visio, SRS, SolarWinds, PRTG, SonicWall, Fortinet, Cisco Meraki, ScreenConnect, Keepass, Wireshark, TFTPD64, Cisco IOS, HP OS, MS Windows Server, VMware, Cintrix, and PeopleSoft. 

Must have the ability to utilize complex computer operations and advanced features of software packages.

Must have proficient use of test equipment.
