Solutions Engineer (Network Solutions Architect)

Location: New York, NY
Job Type: 6-Month Contract-to-Hire

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Solutions Engineer to join a team responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise network infrastructure. This is a project-focused engineering role responsible for delivering scalable, secure, and high-performance networking solutions across the enterprise, particularly within low-latency financial environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, design, and implement enterprise-wide network initiatives.
  • Design and support Local Area Networks (LAN), Wide Area Networks (WAN), Internet, Intranet, and other data communication systems.
  • Analyze business requirements and develop technical network solutions.
  • Create and maintain network architecture, design documentation, and technical specifications.
  • Develop and maintain regulatory compliance documentation.
  • Respond to internal and external audit requests and ensure network compliance.
  • Provide Level 3 engineering support for complex network infrastructure issues.
  • Develop operational readiness plans, test procedures, and implementation strategies.
  • Ensure production networks adhere to architectural, security, and industry best practices.
  • Review engineering designs to ensure consistency across network teams.
  • Identify network risks and manage remediation plans.
  • Collaborate closely with Network Engineering and Operations teams throughout project lifecycles.
  • Stay current with emerging networking technologies and industry trends.

Required Technical SkillsNetworking

  • Strong expertise in Multicast Routing Protocols and multicast methodologies within enterprise environments.
  • Experience with low-latency network infrastructures.
  • Advanced knowledge of:
  • LAN/WAN technologies
  • TCP/IP
  • Routing & Switching
  • Enterprise networking
  • Comprehensive understanding of the OSI Model.
  • Hands-on experience with MPLS, VRF, and Multicast VPN (MVPN).
  • Experience with Optical Networks, including DWDM (Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing).
  • Understanding of network monitoring strategies and monitoring tools.
  • Knowledge of network security principles and best practices.

Operating Systems

  • Working knowledge of:
  • Linux
  • Windows
  • Understanding of operating system interaction with network components.

Automation & Scripting

Experience with one or more of the following:

  • Python
  • Perl
  • TCL

Required Experience

  • 6+ years of enterprise network engineering experience.
  • Experience designing and implementing enterprise network solutions.
  • Experience supporting multi-vendor networking environments.
  • Strong technical documentation and architecture documentation skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Experience working in regulated, mission-critical, or high-availability environments is highly preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor''s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • JNCIP certification preferred.
