Your Impact:


This role will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and optimizing network infrastructure within on-prem OpenText datacenters. You will work closely with internal stakeholders, architects, and infrastructure teams to create scalable, resilient, redundant and efficient networking solutions.

The network devices consist of routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, tools and monitoring and network technologies. The successful candidate will have extensive experience in managing, maintaining, and enhancing a highly resilient business network within on-prem datacenters, and understand the challenges of supporting a 24x7 global operation. The engineer will follow process and standards; the responsibility consists of working as an individual or within a team to implement and coordinate highly complex network deployments.
What the role offers:

Provide expert level network design, understand all aspects and best practices for business network datacenter infrastructure and cloud network technologies.

Work diligently to meet project and business timelines for design and deployment of network infrastructure.

Work to provide best solutions for connectivity between data centers and clients.

Provide 24/7 support for a highly available and resilient Network infrastructure through a regular on-call rotation.

Provide day-to-day support for routers, switches, firewalls and load balancers utilized by Network Operations.

Design, deploy, and manage network infrastructure.

Build highly available, scalable, and secure networking solutions for on-prem datacenter networks, utilizing industry best practices.

Plan and recommend designs that could improve the existing network environment.

Monitor network performance across on-prem network and cloud platforms, ensuring high availability and minimal downtime, meanwhile providing analysis of capacity and health.

Troubleshoot complex network issues across hybrid environments (on-premises and cloud.

Create clear, detailed documentation for network designs, deployments, and configurations.

Establish and enforce networking best practices, standards, and guidelines for the team and broader organization.

Work closely with cross-functional teams, including across network teams, architects, security teams, cloud operations and software developers, to ensure that network solutions align with the overall business goals and objectives.

Stay current with the latest developments in cloud networking and automation technologies to suggest and implement improvements to existing systems.

Ability to work after hours & on-call evenings/weekends.

What you need to succeed:

Candidates must have hands on knowledge of network technologies and methodologies.

Current with network technologies consisting of network design best practices.

Experience designing and managing networking solutions within large-scale on-prem network.

Shall have experience supporting complex technical environments, and someone that carries a professional, business-focused attitude and courteous manner towards clients, partners and peers.

Candidate must have excellent written, presentation, and verbal communication skills including demonstrated experience presenting technology recommendations.

Understanding of software-defined networking (SDN) and related technologies is beneficial.

Experience with containerized networking, Kubernetes, and Docker networking in cloud environments is beneficial.

Experience working with various network devices in a large enterprise network.

Experience in general Network Engineering in support of enterprise applications.

Experience supporting software defined network technologies (VMWare NSX, Juniper, Cisco etc) a plus.

Proficient in a variety of network technology platforms - Routers, Switches, Firewalls including vendors such as Cisco, Arista, Juniper, Checkpoint, F5

Proficiency in networking concepts, including IP addressing, subnetting, VPNs, Load Balancers, DNS, and firewalls in on-prem environments.

Experience working in a team environment

Excellent analytical, troubleshooting and communications skills

Expertise on design, build and support of network infrastructure.

Network Skills: TCP/IP, routing protocols (EIGRP, OSPF, BGP, MPLS, IPSec VPN), Layer2/3 switching and VLAN configuration, Firewall security policies, spine and leaf architecture.

Experience in designing and managing networking solutions within large-scale infrastructures

An education in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline; or equivalent experience is required.

Salary Range: 118,000 - 177,000 CAD per annum; Depending on the candidate's education, experience, skills, geographical location, and alignment with internal equity and external market, actual salary may vary and be higher or lower than the range posted.
