Job description

MANTECH seeks an experienced and passionate, career and customer-oriented Network Engineer to join our team in the Ft. Meade MD area.
 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Support multi-platform, multi-system network solutions. Provision and sustain network infrastructures. Diagnose network performance shortcomings and design and implement performance improvements. Develop, operate, and manage networks in a secure PKI, IPSEC, or VPN enabled environment. Implement routing protocols, QOS, traffic shaping and policing on the network. Research and recommend advanced technologies such as software defined networking and infrastructure as code.
  • Provides technical expertise in the management of a public and/or private network such as Internet protocol (IP) networks, wide area networks (WANs), and public switched telephone networks 
  • Plans, designs, installs, maintains, monitors, analyzes, troubleshoots, modifies and supports network communications systems to provide maximum performance and availability 
  • Plans, designs, implements and supports local and wide area networks (LANs/WANs) in the areas of Internet connectivity, capacity planning, routing, switching, server load balancing, network security, and wireless 
  • Evaluates and reports on new communications technologies to enhance network capabilities
  • Experience with VxLAN implementation and Software Defined Networking to include Cisco ACI or VMware NSX.
  • Scripting experience to include Ansible and Python automation.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 14 years of experience with a Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline or 6 additional years of experience may be substituted for a degree.
  • Experience in the implementation and technical support of multi-platform, multi-system networks to encompass diagnosing network performance shortcomings and designing and implementing performance improvements.
  • Experience supporting network solutions for complex, high performance systems.
  • Experience provisioning and sustaining network infrastructures and have experience developing, operating, and managing networks
  • Experience and knowledge of peer-to-peer distributed storage networks, peer-to-peer routing, and application messaging frameworks.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • VLAN implementation and troubleshooting
  • Data Center build or maintenance
  • Virtual infrastructure management, maintenance or troubleshooting
  • Software Defined or Policy Based networks
  • Scripting (eg Python, Ansible)

Clearance Requirements:

  • Active TS/SCI clearance with Poly

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to be in a stationary position more than 50% of the time
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a computer
  • The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
