SUMMARY:

The position is responsible for the designing, implementing, monitoring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing the local and wide area networks. Assist staff in troubleshooting and maintaining data integrity and security. The engineer will analyze and resolve network hardware, software problems and incidents escalated from service desk.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Primary:

  • Provides direct support in the day-to-day operations on network hardware and operating systems; duties include evaluation of system utilization, monitoring response time and primary support for detection and correction of operational problems.
  • Perform administration and configuration of all network equipment, including but not limited to firewalls, switches, and wireless access points.
  • Participates in planning design, technical review and implementation for new network infrastructure hardware and network operating systems for voice and data communication networks.
  • Design solutions with other teams to support new or updated technologies.
  • Monitor Azure and datacenter for network outages and performance issues.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation and architectural diagrams
  • Perform routine adds, moves, or changes to voice and data networks.
  • Analyze and resolve network hardware, software problems and incidents escalated from service desk.
  • Will be tasked with supervising vendors, contractors or other individuals for maintenance or on a project basis.
  • Lead project manager for various IT projects.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to other members on the team.
  • Proactively identifying, assessing, and recommending solutions to enhance the effectiveness, efficiency and security of the network
  • Other duties as assigned.

Secondary:

  • Maintain Storage Area Network (SAN) and servers (Azure, physical, and virtual).
  • Install servers, software, and other devices on the LAN according to schedule or as requested, ensuring that all work is documented for future reference.
  • Perform daily backups of all systems and ensure safe management of media in accordance with the disaster recovery plan.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Minimum 5 years experience with network engineeringprinciples and practices including TCP/IP, DNS, SNMP, WAN technologies, VLANs and LAN switching and routing
  • Experience in LAN, WAN, security design,configuration and administration including firewall and VPN technologies
  • Minimum 5 years experience with system administrationincluding server-side development, building and maintaining VMware, Microsoft Active Directory and server systems hardware and architecture
  • Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Azure
  • Knowledge and experience with storage area networks
  • Experience managing SQL Server and SQL Reporting Services
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills are required
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (oraland written) for effective and successful interaction with all levels ofstaff and outside contacts
  • Personality Traits: Service-oriented, independent,coach, innovative, organized, passion for latest technologies
  • On-call availability, and occasional evening andweekend work required

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • BS Degree in Information Technology/Systems, Computer Science, Engineering or related field
  • Prefer a combination of industry networkingtechnology certifications, such as CCNA, CCNP, CCSP, VCP, MCSE
