Job description

Construction Project Manager- NEW JERSEY

The Project Manager works collaboratively with Sales Leads (SLs), End Market Leaders (EMLs), and other key stakeholders to ensure coordination of effort, resources, and project execution. The Project Manager provides problem-solving and technical support for field safety professionals assigned to client locations. The Project Manager drives performance and results through a common set of expectations and receives support through collaboration with human resources, operations, resourcing, logistics, consulting, and finance.


Position Responsibilities

Project Planning/Sourcing/Scheduling

· Work with EMLs, SMEs, Logistics, Recruiting, and other stakeholders to identify field resources to build the project team.

· Identify quality talent by interviewing prescreened candidates to evaluate their technical safety knowledge, competencies, soft skills, and leadership abilities.

· Coordinate resource hiring activities:

-Profile generation

- Client interview

- Employment offer

-Start date confirmation (client and resource)

-Onboard and check-ins

· Update project stakeholders on opportunity status.

Project Management

· Ensures project delivery excellence for all projects that fall under assigned area of responsibility, including quality and timeliness of deliverables & reporting.

· Communicate regularly and consistently with key stakeholders and client/project representatives to ensure service satisfaction and proactively identify concerns before they become irreparable issues.

· Building and promoting multilevel relationships with clients.

· Address employee performance concerns proactively, consult with appropriate stakeholders for assistance, and support clients with planned and unplanned Client Directed Removals (CDRs) and HazTek Directed Removals (HDRs).

· Work with PM, Logistics, and other appropriate stakeholders to ensure smooth transition of personnel at the project level, which includes cross-training, CDR/HDR coverage, and filling routine voids (Paid Time Off, project start) in coverage when necessary.

· Conduct root cause analysis and problem solving.

· Manage multiple projects simultaneously.

· Manage competing expectations (client, customer & employee).

· Identification and management of scope of work.

· Manage & mitigate conflicts and disputes.

· Assist with employee timesheet submissions and approvals.

People Management

· Manage a group of direct reports that are remotely located.

· Mitigate employee issues.

· Create a work culture that fosters trust, fairness, consistency, and sharing ideas by modeling the company’s Core Values, communicating clear expectations, and taking advantage of every touchpoint.

· Forecast future hiring needs based on the sales pipeline, historic trends, and other business conditions and initiatives.

· Communicate and coordinate hiring needs with Logistics, Operations, Recruiting, and other key stakeholders.

· Identify quality talent by interviewing prescreened candidates, in-person, when possible, to evaluate their technical safety knowledge, competencies, soft skills, and leadership abilities.

· Ensure profiles are created and present resources to the client in a timely manner.

· Articulate HazTek’s value proposition as a career opportunity for prospective employees, including salary, benefits, growth opportunities and career paths.

· Make all final hiring decisions, present verbal offers, negotiate salaries and other terms of employment, and establish new employees’ start dates.

· Implement disciplinary actions.

Miscellaneous

· Complete time reporting weekly to include appropriate allocation – project billable, business development, admin, PTO, etc. and expense reporting monthly following approved procedures and using available technologies.

· Serve as a company ambassador and champion of change.

· Respond to emergency situations with speed and efficiency.

· Attend scheduled and ad hoc meetings with EMLs, SLs, pipeline review, operations/project review, etc.

· Facilitate an environment that promotes the company’s culture and Core Values.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

· High School Diploma, or equivalent.

· Five (5) years of experience in a role that managed 10 or more individuals.

· Three (3) years of experience in a project management or operations management role

· Three (3) years of experience in managing the full employee employment life cycle.

· OSHA 30 Hour Construction or General Industry.

· Construction industry experience.

· Experience with using CRM technologies to manage the customer and project relationship.

· Experience managing a decentralized, field-based team.

· Experience in a process-driven environment.

· Valid drivers’ license.

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

· Bachelor’s degree in business administration, or related field, or a discipline related to environmental, health and safety or equivalent experience in a sale/business development role and/or delivering health and safety services.

· Experience with Salesforce CRM.

· Experience with HSE management systems, auditing, and safety culture-building, market trends, best practices, and innovations.

· Experience is a specific construction discipline (e.g., data center, refinery, marine, pharmaceutical, environment, remediation, electrical, bridge, highway, steel erection, excavating, dredging, etc.).

· Industry certification (e.g., CSP, ASP, CHST, OHST, STSC, STS).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

· Stand and sit for prolonged periods of time.

· Use the phone for communication.

· Extensive manual dexterity (keyboarding, mouse, phone).

· Occasionally exposed to noise and/or vibrations.

· Occasionally reach (overhead), handle, and feel with hands and arms.

· Occasionally stoop, kneel, and crouch.

· Occasionally lift, carry, and move up to 25 pounds.

· Travel throughout assigned client geography (NJ), as needed.

· Overnight travel, less than 10%.

· Early mornings, long days, nights, and weekends are all required as workload, deadlines and assignments dictate.
