SPA's IT organization is seeking aย Network Managerย to support ongoing and emerging initiatives. Theย Network Managerย will oversee the implementation of network projects-primarily within classified network environments-in alignment with established change management policies. This role is also responsible forย maintainingย awareness of emerging technologies and evolving policies relevant to classified environments. Additionally, theย Network Managerย will provide leadership and guidance to a team ofย ย Network Administrators.ย 

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:ย 

Network Architecture & Strategyย 

  • Design andย maintainย enterprise network architectures that are secure, scalable, resilient, and aligned with organizationalย objectives.ย 
  • Develop network standards, reference architectures, roadmaps, and technology strategies supporting hybrid, cloud, and on-premises environments.ย 
  • Evaluate emerging networking technologies and recommend improvements that increase security, performance, reliability, and operational efficiency.ย 
  • Lead infrastructure modernization initiatives, including network segmentation, Zero Trust adoption, cloud connectivity, and software-defined networking technologies.ย 

Network Engineering & Operationsย 

  • Design, deploy, configure,ย maintain, and optimize enterprise network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, wireless networks, VPNs, and cloud networking components.ย 
  • Build, install, configure, upgrade, andย validateย network hardware and operating systems.ย Evaluate hardwareย operability for purposeย and suitability for procurement.ย 
  • Monitor network health, availability, capacity, and performance to proactivelyย identifyย and resolve issues before theyย impactย operations.ย 
  • Analyze network traffic and system performance using monitoring platforms, NetFlow, packet capture, and other diagnostic tools.ย 
  • Troubleshoot complex network, routing, switching, wireless, and connectivity issues across enterprise environments.ย 
  • Plan and execute maintenance activities, upgrades, migrations, and technology refresh initiatives with minimal operational disruption.ย 

Security & Complianceย 

  • Configure andย maintainย enterprise security controls, including:ย 
  • Next-Generation Firewalls (NGFW)ย 
  • Access Control Lists (ACLs)ย 
  • VPN technologiesย 
  • Network Access Control (802.1X)ย 
  • TACACS+ย 
  • RADIUSย 
  • Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE)ย 
  • Certificate-based authenticationย 
  • Implement network configurations thatย comply withย applicable DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs), DoD cybersecurity requirements, and organizational security policies.ย 
  • Support CMMC, NIST, RMF, and other regulatory or contractual compliance initiatives.ย 
  • Participate in vulnerability remediation, security assessments, and incident response activities involving network infrastructure.ย 

Documentation & Governanceย 

  • Develop andย maintainย accurateย network diagrams, architecture documentation, configuration standards, operational procedures, and technical runbooks.ย 
  • Maintain configuration baselines and change documentation supporting operational excellence and audit readiness.ย 
  • Ensure network environmentsย remainย well documented throughout their lifecycle.ย 

Leadership & Collaborationย 

  • Lead network engineering initiatives from planning through implementation and operational transition.ย 
  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to network engineers and other infrastructureย teamย members.ย 
  • Coordinate activities with cybersecurity, cloud engineering, systems engineering, applicationย teams, managed service providers, and vendors.ย 
  • Participate in architecture reviews, technical design sessions, and infrastructure planning efforts.ย 
  • Communicate technical concepts, risks, recommendations, and project status clearly to both technical and executive stakeholders.ย 
Qualifications

Required Qualificationsย 

  • 8+ years of experience in enterprise networking with 3+ years in a network leadership or management roleย ย 
  • Experience configuring and implementing network access control solutions, such as Cisco ISE, and other enterprise networking technologies in secure environments.ย ย 
  • Strong experience configuring, implementing, and troubleshooting:ย ย 
  • Cisco routing and switching platformsย ย 
  • Enterprise wireless solutionsย ย 
  • Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE), RADIUS, TACACS+, and 802.1xย ย 
  • DNS and DHCPย ย 
  • ACL design and implementationย ย 
  • Network monitoring platformsย 
  • Must obtain andย maintainย a minimum of one DOD 8140 Cyber Workforce Qualification Program security certifications with a commercial certification in a specific technology - Cisco or Palo is preferred.ย 

Desired Qualificationsย 

  • Proven experience in project management, including the planning, development, and implementation of technical initiatives.ย 
  • Skilled in applying DISA STIGs and implementing cybersecurity policies, standards, and procedures.ย 
  • Hands-on experience withย firewalls, load balancing, VPN technologies,ย and related security technologies.ย 
  • Broad knowledge of networking principles, theories, and industry best practices.ย 
  • Familiarity with DoD networking baselines and compliance requirements, including CORA and CMMC.ย 
  • Ability to translate complex technical incidents into clear business impacts and solutions for diverse internal and external stakeholders.ย 
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities supported by excellent interpersonal skills.ย 
    • Effective team collaborator with strong reporting, documentation, and communication abilities.ย

Pay Range InformationAt SPA, we strive to deliver a robust total compensation package that will attract and retain top talent. Elements of the compensation package include competitive base pay and variable compensation opportunities.
