Job Summary:
Vera Bradley is seeking a Manager of Infrastructure Engineering to lead the design, implementation, and operation of enterprise infrastructure systems. This role involves guiding a team of system administrators to deliver secure and scalable solutions while ensuring operational performance and adherence to compliance standards.
Responsibilities:
• Lead the design, implementation, and support of infrastructure systems across network, compute, storage, and cloud environments
• Architect infrastructure solutions to ensure 24x7x365 availability, security, and performance aligned to business objectives
• Establish and maintain infrastructure standards for configuration, security, and scalability
• Drive adoption of automation, monitoring, and modern infrastructure practices (e.g., infrastructure-as-code where applicable)
• Own delivery of infrastructure capabilities supporting enterprise applications and product teams
• Partner with product and application teams to design and implement infrastructure solutions for new and existing services
• Lead capacity planning to ensure infrastructure performance during peak periods and future growth
• Design, implement, and validate backup, restore, and disaster recovery solutions
• Oversee day-to-day infrastructure operations to ensure reliability, uptime, and service quality
• Lead troubleshooting of complex performance, availability, and system issues
• Ensure proactive monitoring, patching, and vulnerability remediation across systems
• Partner with Managed Service Providers (MSPs) to execute operational support while maintaining accountability internally
• Ensure infrastructure systems adhere to security and compliance standards (e.g., SOX, PCI)
• Monitor, scan, and remediate vulnerabilities across infrastructure systems
• Support enterprise disaster recovery and business continuity strategies
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of infrastructure engineers and administrators
• Provide technical coaching and hands-on guidance in architecture and problem solving
• Establish clear ownership, accountability, and execution standards
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement, learning, and operational excellence
• Partner with Product, Security, and Business teams to enable scalable and secure solutions
• Translate business needs into infrastructure designs that support growth and innovation
• Communicate risks, tradeoffs, and priorities clearly to leadership
• Execute against the infrastructure roadmap, including: Stabilization of current environment, Security uplift, Infrastructure modernization
• Contribute to operating model decisions (internal vs. external capabilities)
• Support vendor strategy and MSP integration
Qualifications:
Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• 7+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering or systems engineering
• 1+ years of experience in a technical leadership or team lead role required
• Strong experience across: Compute (on-prem and cloud platforms)
• Experience designing and supporting highly available infrastructure systems
• Strong understanding of: Monitoring and performance tuning
• Strong understanding of: Backup and disaster recovery
• Strong understanding of: Security and vulnerability management
• Strong technical problem-solving and decision-making capabilities
• Ability to lead through influence and drive execution across teams
• Clear communicator, able to translate technical concepts for business stakeholders
• Ownership mindset with focus on outcomes, stability, and continuous improvement
Preferred:
• 3+ years of experience in a technical leadership or team lead role preferred
• Strong experience across: Networking (LAN/WAN, VPN, firewalls) preferred
• Experience with automation and modern infrastructure practices preferred
