Description

SAIC is seeking a Network Engineer to be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the network architecture for shipboard C5ISR systems, ensuring robust and secure communication networks in new ship construction.  

Work is performed on site in Pascagoula, MS. 

This position is contingent upon award news, with anticipated funding in late 2026/early 2027. 

Duties: 

  • Plan and execute integration and operational validation and testing in the Platform Integration Facility (PIF), dockside, and at-sea environments to validate system functionality, performance, and interoperability
  • Design and implement network architecture for shipboard C5ISR systems
  • Prepare monthly and as-required contract deliverables (CDRLs) including progress reports, risk assessments, test procedures, test reports, and System Operational Verification Tests (SOVTs)
  • Ensure secure and reliable shipboard communication networks design for NIPRNET, SIPRNET, CENTRIX, and afloat command and control networks
  • Serve as Technical Design Agent Coordinating with customer for network requirements
  • Conduct network performance analysis and optimization of interfaces between sensors, communications, navigation and radar systems
  • Support the development and review of network-related documentation and design reviews including Functional Interface Diagrams, Interface Control documents, architecture system and technical views
  • Review proposed engineering changes for C5ISR integration and test impact, prepare redlines, and submit Engineering Change Requests (ECRs)
  • Support cybersecurity test events and Authorization to Operate (ATO) readiness reviews  

Qualifications

Required Clearance: 
• Must have an active Secret Clearance 

Required Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor in Science in Engineering, Science, Mathematics or related field and five (5) years of experience; OR Nine (9) years of experience can be considered in lieu of degree 

  • Must have-- Hands-on network engineering experience (routing, switching, VLANs, firewalls experience) for C3ISR, C4ISR, C5ISR, and/or C6ISR shipboard systems and architecture 
              *See below for desired systems applicable to this program. 

  • Demonstrates familiarity and understanding of all subject areas in Certification and Accreditation (C&A) 

  • Proficiency in network architecture design and implementation 

  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles and practices 

  • Knowledge of and experience with evaluating networking functional requirements 

  • Experience with AutoCAD or equivalent tools for network and systems engineering drawing development
