Job Title:
Network Security Engineer - Web Proxy & Firewall SME
Location:
Irving, TX (Onsite / Hybrid - as per project needs)
Summary:
We are looking for an experienced Network Security Engineer to act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Web Proxy and Firewall technologies in a large-scale enterprise environment. This role will play a critical part in supporting a major network separation/divestiture initiative, ensuring secure, seamless, and compliant transition of services.
The ideal candidate will bring deep hands-on expertise in enterprise firewall platforms and web proxy solutions, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work independently while collaborating with cross-functional technical teams.
Required / Mandatory Skills:
  • Strong hands-on experience with enterprise-grade Firewall platforms such as:
    • Palo Alto Networks
    • Check Point
    • Cisco ASA / Firepower (FTD)
  • Practical experience with Web Proxy solutions, including:
    • Zscaler
    • Forcepoint / Websense
    • Blue Coat / Symantec ProxySG
  • Solid understanding of network protocols and security concepts:
    • TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS
    • VPNs, NAT, IDS/IPS, Load Balancing
  • Proven ability to:
    • Analyze network traffic and logs
    • Troubleshoot complex connectivity and security issues
    • Optimize firewall and proxy performance
  • Experience with firewall rule design, web proxy policy creation, and maintenance
  • Exposure to network segmentation, ACL migrations, and access control strategies
  • Scripting knowledge (Python, PowerShell) for automation is a plus
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently as an SME and collaboratively within large technical teams
Qualification:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field
  • 3-5 years of experience in Network Security Engineering
  • 2-3 years of hands-on experience managing Web Proxy and Firewall solutions in an enterprise setup
  • Proven experience acting as a Subject Matter Expert (SME)
  • Preferred Certifications (nice to have):
    • CCNA Security
    • PCNSE (Palo Alto Networks)
    • CCSA / CCSE (Check Point)
    • Zscaler certifications (ZCCA, ZCSE)
