Job Title: Expert Network Administrator

Task Order: HBITS-07-14563

Position Overview

This HBITS role supports the Department’s hybrid security infrastructure and focuses on maintaining complex computer and network environments with an emphasis on networking, on-site servers, software-network interactions, and overall network integrity and resilience.

The position requires an expert-level professional (7+ years) who can design, document, secure, and manage enterprise network environments using advanced firewall, routing, and high-availability technologies. The ideal candidate is recognized as a technical leader who can mentor staff while ensuring reliable, secure, and scalable network operations.

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and manage network security appliances in a high availability architecture.
  • Patch and maintain network security appliances with all relevant security updates and software upgrades.
  • Implement network changes to support new initiatives or application requirements as needed.
  • Produce detailed network diagrams and documentation.
  • Develop and document network standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to less-experienced network staff.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years (Expert level) of experience providing technical leadership and advanced network engineering support.
  • 7+ years of administration and engineering experience with Palo Alto and/or Fortinet firewalls.
  • 7+ years of experience using Panorama and/or FortiManager management systems.
  • 7+ years of experience designing and documenting enterprise networks.
  • 7+ years of network experience with:
    • Local Area Networks (LAN)
    • Wide Area Networks (WAN)
    • TCP/IP
    • Switching and routing protocols
  • 7+ years of experience developing and deploying BGP routing solutions.
