These skills ensure reliable and secure network operations, minimizing downtime and supporting organizational productivity.

What are Network Engineers?

Network Engineers are IT professionals who design, implement, manage, and troubleshoot computer networks within an organization. They work with hardware and software to ensure networks operate efficiently and securely, supporting both local area networks (LANs) and wide area networks (WANs). Network Engineers are responsible for tasks such as configuring network devices, monitoring network performance, upgrading systems, and resolving connectivity issues. They often work closely with other IT staff to support business operations and maintain network security.

What are some common challenges Network Engineers face when troubleshooting network issues, and how can they effectively address them?

Network Engineers often encounter challenges such as identifying the root cause of connectivity problems, dealing with legacy equipment, or managing network congestion. Effective troubleshooting requires a systematic approach—using network monitoring tools, analyzing logs, and methodically isolating potential failure points. Collaborating closely with other IT teams, staying up-to-date with evolving technologies, and documenting solutions also help ensure quick and efficient resolution of network issues.

  • Configure, administer and optimize SolarWinds monitoring platforms including NPM, NCM, and SAM, while developing dashboards, alerting, reporting, and observability solutions.

  • Develop and maintain automation solutions using Python, Ansible, and PowerShell to support configuration management, compliance validation, provisioning, operational tasks, and CI/CD-based network deployments.

  • Create reusable automation frameworks and operational runbooks for vulnerability remediation and other projects.

Cybersecurity & Vulnerability Remediation

  • Identify, prioritize, and remediate cybersecurity vulnerabilities through firmware upgrades, secure configuration standards, patch management, NAC, segmentation, and Zero Trust initiatives.

  • Implement secure network configurations and hardening standards aligned with enterprise security policies.

  • Participate in security assessments, penetration test remediation, and risk mitigation activities.

  • Maintain documentation of remediation activities, patch compliance, and security exceptions.

  • Other duties as assigned.
