(BGS) has created this Evergreen Talent Pool post for gathering qualified candidates for a position relating to a licensed Master Electrician (Network Cabling Lead) to lead network cabling projects in office buildings, including sensitive government and classified facilities. The role includes oversight of structured cabling installations (copper and fiber optic), team leadership, safety compliance, and ensuring all work meets electrical code, industry standards, and security requirements such as red/black cable separation. This is a hands-on leadership position requiring technical expertise, supervisory skills, and the ability to work in secure environments.

Responsibilities:  

  • Lead and supervise teams of journeyman and apprentice electricians performing cable installation in both standard and sensitive environments (e.g., SCIFs, data centers, secure spaces).
  • Plan and oversee structured cabling layouts for new and existing office spaces (copper Cat5e/Cat6/Cat6a and fiber optic cabling).
  • Ensure compliance with red/black separation requirements for classified and unclassified systems.
  • Ensure all cabling terminations, labeling, and testing meet TIA/EIA, NEC, and project specifications.
  • Interpret drawings, blueprints, and technical documents to determine cable routes and termination points.
  • Perform and oversee copper and fiber terminations (patch panels, keystone jacks, connectors, fiber trays, etc.).
  • Conduct quality assurance inspections and certify test results for installed cabling.
  • Ensure compliance with state/local codes, safety regulations, company standards, and federal security guidelines.
  • Provide on-the-job training, mentoring, and technical guidance to journeymen and apprentices.
  • Coordinate with project managers, general contractors, IT/security staff, and government representatives to align cable installation with project timelines.

Requirements: 

  • Active Master Electrician license.
  • Minimum 7–10 years of electrical experience, with at least 3 years focused on structured cabling (copper and fiber optic).
  • Demonstrated experience working in sensitive facilities (SCIFs, secure government buildings, or defense-related projects).
  • Strong knowledge of NEC, TIA/EIA standards, and government/DoD red/black separation practices.
  • Demonstrated experience leading electrical crews on commercial/office projects.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Familiarity with cable testing tools (Fluke or equivalent) and certification processes.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Active Secret clearance (Top Secret preferred), or the ability to obtain/maintain clearance.

Location/Work Arrangement:

  • This position is Remote with travel.
