The Amazon Leo for Government (ALG) Engineering organization is a multi-disciplinary technology team established to rapidly address the needs of targeted government and international customers with specific solutions that have the potential to scale. ALG Engineering leads the development and delivery of targeted and scalable solutions for custom space and terrestrial applications. ALG collaborates closely with Project LEO to leverage the constellation of advance satellites to provide seamless and efficient communication capabilities to meet the needs of our customers. The ALG Engineering team is seeking highly technical and talented individuals who are passionate about creating unique solutions that result in a positive impact on a global scale.

We're looking for a Network Development Engineer who can design, build, and operate network infrastructure across data center and engineering environments. You'll own architectures that support production systems, integration environments, and engineering labs — delivering reliability and scalability while enabling teams to move fast.

You'll bring data center networking fundamentals — switching fabrics, routing, segmentation, automation — and apply them across environments with varying requirements, from production-grade availability to rapid reconfigurability for hardware integration and system validation.

You deliver simple, sustainable, and repeatable solutions — whether refreshing aging infrastructure or standing up something new. You're comfortable designing a scalable switching fabric and equally comfortable helping an engineer debug why their test hardware can't reach a shared resource. You bring production-grade thinking to every environment you touch, and you understand that great infrastructure enables great engineering.

• Design & deploy network architectures — switching fabrics, routing, segmentation, and connectivity across data center and infrastructure environments
• Automate network provisioning, configuration management, and operational workflows; build tooling that enables infrastructure to scale at higher volume
• Operate & sustain multi-tenant network environments including technology refresh, scaling, and optimization — delivering simple, sustainable, and repeatable solutions
• Troubleshoot & resolve complex cross-domain network events spanning physical layer through application connectivity; diagnose root cause and mitigate impact
• Collaborate with hardware, systems, and software engineering teams to define requirements and ensure smooth rollout of new designs and products
• Lead projects in network deployment, sustaining engineering, and infrastructure scaling
• Maintain standards for change management, documentation (SOPs, implementation guides, knowledge transfer), and configuration control; ensure compliance across the networking toolset

This position requires that the candidate selected be a U.S. Citizen in order to comply with U.S. government-imposed requirements related to the nature of the work and/or where it will be performed.

• 4+ years of major internet routing protocols experience
• 1+ years of working in a Linux/Unix environment experience
• 3+ years of network engineering experience (design, deployment, operations)
• Proficiency in network automation (Python, Ansible, or equivalent) and infrastructure-as-code
• Experience with enterprise/data center switching platforms (Arista, Cisco Nexus, Juniper, or similar)
• Hands-on experience with Linux networking (bridges, namespaces, virtual interfaces, firewalling)
• Experience operating in multi-tenant or shared infrastructure environments

• 1+ years of automation scripting using Python, Bash, Shell and/or Perl experience
• Experience with network troubleshooting tools (telnet, test-netconnection, tracert, tracetcp, iperf, ntttcp, dig, and packet capture tools), or experience working with customers with a passion for delivering exceptional service and experience with automation and any version control tools
• Experience supporting engineering labs, test environments, or integration infrastructure
• Familiarity with embedded systems integration
• Exposure to SDN concepts, programmable data planes, or SONiC
• Understanding of systems engineering lifecycle (requirements, integration, verification)
• Familiarity with RF, satellite, or communications system hardware integration

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
