Job description

We are seeking an experienced Network Engineer Mid (Cloud Network Engineer 2) to support the operation and performance of cloud backbone network communication systems in a secure federal environment, The candidate will play a critical role in designing, maintaining, and optimizing cloud-based network infrastructures. This includes developing network architecture schematics, administering cloud and hybrid systems, and ensuring network reliability, scalability, and security.

This role requires deep expertise in cloud networking, virtualized environments, and modern network technologies, along with the ability to support complex, mission-critical systems.


Security Clearance: Secret Clearance Required

Work Authorization: U.S. Citizens ONLY due to legal or government contract requirements

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the operation and maintenance of cloud backbone network communication systems to ensure high availability and performance.
  • Develop detailed specifications and schematics for cloud network architectures and designs.
  • Administer, monitor, install, maintain, and troubleshoot a wide range of network systems and cloud-based infrastructure.
  • Conduct testing and validation of network designs to ensure performance, scalability, and security compliance.
  • Maintain technical expertise across network hardware, software, and virtual appliances.
  • Configure and manage networking components such as routers, firewalls, switches, gateways, and load balancers in cloud environments.
  • Support hybrid and multi-cloud network environments, ensuring seamless connectivity and integration.
  • Analyze network performance and implement improvements for optimization and scalability.
  • Troubleshoot complex network issues including latency, routing, and connectivity problems.
  • Document network configurations, architectures, and operational procedures.
  • Collaborate with cloud engineers, system administrators, and security teams to support integrated solutions.
  • Implement and maintain network security controls aligned with federal compliance standards.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in network engineering, cloud networking, or related roles.
  • Strong experience with cloud networking platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud (GCP).
  • Deep understanding of networking concepts including routing, switching, VPNs, firewalls, and load balancing.
  • Experience with cloud-based virtual networks (e.g., VPCs, VNets).
  • Proficiency in installing, configuring, and troubleshooting network infrastructure.
  • Strong knowledge of how cloud servers, operating systems, and networks function, perform, and scale.
  • Experience working in secure or regulated environments.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with network automation and scripting (e.g., Python, Bash, Ansible).
  • Familiarity with Software-Defined Networking (SDN) and network virtualization.
  • Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
  • Knowledge of monitoring and observability tools (e.g., CloudWatch, Datadog, SolarWinds).
  • Understanding of Zero Trust Architecture and network segmentation strategies.
  • Experience with DNS, DHCP, IPAM, and advanced load balancing technologies.


Certifications

  • IAT Level II (Required)
