Job description

Overview

The Contract Manager, in collaboration with the Director of Operations - Network Services, will support the development, implementation, and management of assigned contracted service area agreements and programs. As a member of the Healthcare Delivery Operations team, the Contract Manager collaborates with Clinical Operations team members and other stakeholders to develop, manage, and implement contract terms to improve quality of care. The day-to-day activities for this position include the development and enforcement of contractual terms, analyzing spend and services received according to contractual terms, evaluating and providing feedback in the drafting of contracts, reviewing and validating invoices received from the contractor, communicating with contractors and stakeholders regarding the contractual operations of the services provided, and addressing patient concerns related to services provided by the contractor. The Contract Manager will analyze and report on the status, utilization, and issues related to each assigned contract. This position is Hybrid and is approved for work at both an approved off-site location and onsite at a Central Health location based on business needs.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  • Works closely with the Director of Operations, the Clinical Operations team, the Legal team, and executive leadership, in the development and day-to-day management of the Central Health Healthcare Delivery service contracts.
  • Responsible for understanding the workflows related to the contracts to ensure the contract contains all appropriate components.
  • Responsible for monitoring monthly spend against contract and provide leadership with updates regarding areas of concerns.
  • Ensures contracts are executed, renewed or terminated in a timely manner and according to contractual requirements.
  • Reviews submitted reports and associated invoices to ensure they meet contract requirements.
  • Addresses concerns raised by patients by providing direction to the Patient Experience team and documenting resolution.
  • Develop effective communication methods and strategies to provide Central Health stakeholders with appropriate contractual and financial updates.
  • Analyzes data to determine cost of services received by patients and Central Health's spend for services to ensure annual cost is within contractual limit and to make budgetary recommendations.
  • Serves as the point of contact and subject matter expert for assigned contracts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Skills in developing contractual terms that reflect the appropriate services needed by Central Health,ย  and moving the contract through appropriate processes toward execution.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices utilized in business or healthcare management and operations.
  • Ability to work independently with a high level of initiative and an appropriate level of judgment, discretion and decision-making to achieve work goals.
  • Skills in organizing work, prioritizing tasks, and managing time effectively with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate across departments and promote teamwork.
  • Skills in performing complex operations in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing with others in a clear and professional manner.
  • Skills in collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to effectively provide contracted services.
  • Knowledge of challenges experienced by individuals who earn less than 200% of the federal poverty level to receive healthcare services and the associated challenges in delivering the care.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to think critically using math skills, logic, and/or analyis to review data and identify and resolve issues related to the cost and appropriateness of services provided according to the contract.
  • Ability to work within an ambiguous, fast-moving environment while also driving work toward clarity and solutions.
  • Skills in scheduling, facilitating, and actively participating in meetings to coordinate work among internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications

Minimum Education: High School Diploma or equivalent (higher degree accepted)

Preferred Education: Bachelor's Degree (higher degree accepted) in Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Business Administration, or related field

Minimum Experience:

  • 3 years Experience developing, editing, implementing, and managing contract terms or other formal documents (e.g. grants, SOPs, policies).
  • 2 years Experience conducting data analysis using appropriate calculations and developing reports on findings.ย 
  • 5 years With a high school diploma, must have 5 years of progressively responsible experience in healthcare industry
