Job Summary
The IT Network Engineer is responsible for establishing and maintaining network performance for all UMC network and equipment at UMC main hospital and campus locations
Job Specific Responsibilities
Daily assignments may include but are not limited to:
• Provide installation and maintenance for VOIP solutions, network switches, wireless access points, routers, network firewalls, and network access control policies
• Troubleshoot, resolve, and communicate any/all networking issues companywide
• Coordinate project elements related to upgrade and enhancements to existing systems
• Create, maintain, and update firewall policies.
• All other assigned duties delegated by IT Enterprise Network Manager
Education and Experience
• High School Diploma or GED
• +4 years of experience supporting, maintaining, and managing large scale ethernet cabling or enterprise networks
Required Licensures/Certifications/Registrations
• ITIL Certification + 1 field certification
Skills and Abilities
• Working knowledge and competency of Cisco technologies, LAN/WAN, VOIP, and network security
• Demonstrated customer service attitude and approach to business
• Keen attention to details
• Strong organizational, technical, and troubleshooting skills
Interaction with Other Departments and Other Relationships
This position has much interaction with various hospital department leaders, outlying clinics, and TTUHSC network personnel
Physical Capabilities
Ability to lift PC and network peripherals, none to exceed 30 lbs. Ability to walk to all network communication centers within the UMC / TTUHSC buildings. Ability to drive to all remote network communication centers.
