Job Summary:

The Low Voltage Estimator supports sales staff in developing bid/proposal responses for sales opportunities and is tasked with making sure the estimates are complete and updated as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Cost Estimation:

  • Assist in preparing accurate cost estimates for network cabling systems, including materials, labor, expenses (travel, parking, tooling, etc).
  • Support the development of bid proposals in alignment with project budgets and timelines.

Scope Analysis:

  • Review basic project documents to include schedules, drawings, and specifications to understand the scope of work.
  • Identify and document project requirements under the guidance of senior estimators.
  • Create a Scope of work document for the customer clarity as well as for the Operations team to perform to.

Vendor and Supplier Coordination:

  • Obtain pricing from vendors for materials and equipment.
  • Build and maintain relationships with suppliers to support competitive pricing.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Collaborate with sales, project managers and engineers to ensure estimates meet project needs.
  • Provide clear and organized documentation for all estimates and related information.

Learning and Development:

  • Stay updated on industry standards, emerging technologies, and best practices in network cabling.
  • Participate in training and mentorship programs to enhance technical and estimation skills.

Minimum Requirements

  • 1-2 years experience estimating network cabling projects
  • Strong foundational knowledge of network cabling systems, materials and installation practices (copper and fiber cabling and pathways)
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Bluebeam Revu (or similar)
  • Detail oriented
  • Must be self-motivated, proactive, and able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Possess problem solving skills, critical thinking skills and the ability to effectively read, write and present the information you have put together in bid responses
  • Must be able to read and interpret project drawings, specifications and other project documents
  • Manage multiple projects/estimates and keep all project details separately organized
  • Ability to read and understand construction drawings, specification documents and technical documents

Preferred Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree in Construction Management, Telecommunications or a related field
  • 1-year Structured Cabling industry experience preferred

Pay Rate:

$65,000 - $100,000/year
