Job description

D462 seeks a highly motivated individual to join its IT team. The position is for an experienced Network Administrator, based on your qualifications, for a number of classified networks.  The role requires a broad understanding of technologies including networking, applications and scripting skills.  The successful candidate will work in a technically diverse environment with a team of system and network administrators responsible to install, maintain and support Commercial off the Shelf (COTS) products and to ensure the security and availability for use across the networks. The candidate will be assigned projects to manage as required.

The successful candidate will be expected to attend training sessions to maintain and improve skillsets as well as cross train peers.  Some travel may be required.  The position provides challenging work and a means to continue gaining technical skills and broadening experience.

The candidate will be part of a team responsible for the following:

  • Administration of Cisco switches, routers, Cisco CUCM, VTC, ISE and Palo Alto firewalls
  • Administration with Cisco Call Manager, VTC, ISE NAC and implementation
  • Knowledge of VMware
  • Providing user support
  • Project Management
  • Interpreting, implementing and testing security requirements.
  • Must be able to support flexible work hours
  • Writing documentation on the systems.
  • Working with Engineers on advanced principles and software integration.

Required:

  • Bachelor of science degree in networking or engineering
  • 5+ years experience administering, assembling, testing, troubleshooting and repairing network equipment (Switches, routers and/or firewalls)
  • Must have strong communication skills and demonstrated ability to work individually, within a team, with other groups and with customers
  • Experience with at least one of the following:

             -Cisco routing and switching technologies

             -TACACS, 802.1x, SNMP, Syslog, DNS, DHCP

             -Network troubleshooting

Preferred:

  • Masters of science degree in networking or engineering
  • 5 + yrs. of experience with Palo Alto firewalls
  • 5 + yrs. of experience with network access control (NAC)
  • 15 + years  experience as a Network Administrator
  • 5 + years experience supporting network admistration for DOD entities
  • Experience with Linux
  • Experience with system monitoring software to collect and manage events and system status
  • Experience with ESXi, vCenter Server and vSphere
  • Experience with managing classified networks
  • Experience with IT Project management and execution
  • Experience with DOD Security Requirements and Risk Management Framework (RMF)
  • Technical network certification (CCNA, CCDE)

The candidate must have a keen focus on customer satisfaction, problem prioritization, time management and security compliance. The candidate must possess strong interpersonal, project management, organizational and communication skills, be able to work independently throughout the shipyard facility and offsite locations (including occasional air travel), support off-hours and weekend work for periodic scheduled, as well as trouble resolution events.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret clearance
  • Lifting up to 40lbs as required, ability to relocate and move servers and network equipment
  • Ability to bend, stretch, kneel to perform cable management. This requires tedious detail to properly install, label and appropriately route network cables
  • Moves / Adds / Changes - of computers when necessary
  • Individuals must be able to physically lift, bend and crawl under desks
