Job description

Job Summary:
PlanIT Group is a renowned global leader in communication system integration, seeking experienced Network Technicians. This role is pivotal in supporting facilities management and site security, aiming for utmost customer satisfaction through flawless execution.
Responsibilities:
• Patching cables between network equipment and the customer's network
• Installing power cables from equipment to power supply in racks/cabinets/closets
• Installing, troubleshooting, and de-installing network equipment
• Performing device installations/swaps (e.g., phones, computers, cables, routers, switches)
• Handling Network General remote Sniffer installations, troubleshooting, and removal
• Completing all Move, Add, Change (MAC) requests within defined service levels
• Acting as a liaison between customer associates and management
• Providing hardware break-fix services for network infrastructure
• Conducting onsite testing (data, voice, website, security) and backup testing
• Assisting with carrier testing of circuits and facilities efforts
• Supporting inventory management activities, including receiving, tagging, tracking, ordering, and updating inventory records
• Acting as an interface between associates and centralized project/operations/MAC management as necessary
Qualifications:
Required:
• Proficiency in technical tools such as Sniffers, BERT testers, cable testers, and fiber testers
• Experience working in communications closets
• Ability to perform rack and stack activities and lift heavy objects safely
• Familiarity with cable patching processes and 66 Block and 110 Block cross-connect procedures
• Basic knowledge of data communications networking and network terminology
• Ability to assist in troubleshooting and program Cisco phones
• Familiarity with IP and Avaya phones, including installation and troubleshooting
• Strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to explain technical issues clearly to customers
• Experience in data communications (3-5 years), with basic knowledge of Cisco phones, switches, and routers
• High school diploma or equivalent required
Preferred:
• Experience working in a data center environment
• Pre-made Fiber install and testing experience
• Familiarity with fluke testers
