Job description

Summary Description

At Certegy, we’re changing the payments landscape by providing faster, more efficient ways to securely connect retailers and consumers. Our technology supports both traditional and modern methods for merchants to accept and verify payments—powering check verification and warranty services, ACH payment solutions, and risk management expertise for clients ranging from local businesses to the largest retailers in America.

We’re seeking a Cloud Architect to define and drive our cloud platform vision into a secure, scalable, and reliable reality. You’ll set architectural direction, lead cloud modernization, and partner closely with engineering, product, security, and operations teams to evolve business-critical systems across a multi-cloud footprint that includes AWS and OCI (Oracle Cloud Infrastructure).

This role is on-site only in our Florida or Texas office locations.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Own cloud architecture strategy across platforms, tooling, and patterns—driving outcomes in reliability, security, scalability, and delivery velocity.
  • Design and govern container-based architectures using Docker and AWS ECS, including standards for service design, networking, scaling, and operational readiness.
  • Define and improve deployment and release management practices for ECS-based services.
  • Partner with engineering teams to ensure architectural intent becomes robust implementation through reviews, reference designs, and hands-on enablement.
  • Drive integration architecture that efficiently connects legacy systems with modern cloud services and APIs.
  • Collaborate with security and risk stakeholders to embed security-by-design, IAM best practices, secrets management, and compliance-aligned controls.
  • Improve quality and operability through observability standards (monitoring, logging, tracing), incident learnings, and continuous improvement.
  • Document and spread best practices across teams; mentor engineers and technical leads to raise the bar on cloud delivery.
  • Bring a customer service mindset when partnering with internal stakeholders, emphasizing responsiveness, clear expectations, and solutions that make teams successful.
  • Work effectively with vendors and third-party partners, including technical evaluation, integration planning, issue resolution, and ongoing relationship management.

Skills & Specifications

  • Strong hands-on experience with AWS ECS and Docker in production environments.
  • Experience with AWS Fargate for container compute and scaling strategies.
  • Proven experience using Terraform to provision and manage cloud infrastructure at scale.
  • Strong Linux and systems fundamentals, with practical experience supporting production services.
  • Experience designing for resiliency, performance, and cost optimization in cloud environments.
  • Ability to translate scope into execution plans, sequencing, and estimates; experience delivering complex efforts using agile-oriented delivery.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical concepts in relatable terms.
  • Confidence managing multiple priorities and making trade-offs aligned to business outcomes.

Education & Qualifications

·       Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Information Systems required; Master’s degree preferred.

·       10+ years building and supporting large-scale, business-critical systems.

·       5+ years designing and operating cloud-based enterprise systems.
