About the Role:
Job Summary
The Cloud Engineer facilitates in designing, implementing, and maintaining cloud infrastructure systems primarily focusing on storage needs using various cloud platforms including storage area networks (SAN) and network attached storage (NAS) technologies. Assist in developing storage retention and backup policies, DR/BC processes and other backup related duties. Performs capacity planning, maintenance, user support, troubleshooting of software, hardware, drivers, and related third party software that have an impact on storage performance. Also supports building/testing/executing disaster recovery plans for highly available applications. Project management experience preferred and leading/mentoring staff to achieve desired outcomes in support of a 24x7 critical patient care environment.
Minimum Job Qualifications
  • Licensure or other certifications: At least two (2) active certifications are required in one of the following areas: Cloud Technologies (Azure or AWS), Microsoft Certification in Windows Server Technologies, Virtualization Technologies (VCP), or Storage Technologies (Dell/EMC/Cloud or Epic).
  • Educational Requirements: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, MIS or other computer-related field. In lieu of degree requirement, 11 years of IT experience may be considered.
  • Minimum Experience: Minimum of seven (7) years of experience designing and engineering infrastructure solutions with implementation on premise, in Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS), or Google Public Cloud (GCP) cloud infrastructure; Five (5) + years in a storage management and administration capacity within the IT domain.
  • Other: Equivalent experience in similar IT environments will be considered

Job Specific and Unique Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft, VMWare Hypervisors.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft and Linux Operating Systems.
  • Knowledge and experience managing, maintaining and installing Vmware virtualization technologies including ESX, Vsphere, Vmotion, and VDI.
  • Knowledge of software designed data centers (SDDC) methodologies and best practices.
  • Expert level experience working with enterprise class SAN / NAS infrastructure from Nimble, EMC, NetApp and Dell.
  • Certifications in Cisco, VMware, NetApp, Nimble, Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure technologies a huge plus.
  • Proven experience working with compute platforms from Cisco UCS and Dell.
  • Knowledge of cloud platform orchestration layer tools and automation tools such as Ansible, Puppet, Chef, CloudBolt, TerraForm and OpenStack.

Essential Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Lead and provide ongoing administration, maintenance and problem resolution of existing SAN / NAS storage infrastructure and related software.
  • Design, implement and maintain SAN and NAS storage appliances / solutions for use by cloud and other compute infrastructure.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve escalations from the team's support departments within defined OLA's and processes.
  • Create and maintain strong vendor relationships. Negotiate cost effective contracts and renewals as needed.
  • Plan, execute and assist with ongoing cloud platform migrations with legacy cloud platforms.
  • Performs Windows and Linux operating system installation, maintenance and tuning on servers according to current industry best practice standards, primarily around storage activities but not limited to storage.
  • Mangement and maintenance of all storage devices, including disk to disk backup and disk to cloud backup.
  • Documents procedures for technical areas, provides cross training to team members to ensure repeatable and consistent process are replicated throughout the technical team.
  • Develop, implement, and oversee policies and procedures to ensure consistent storage provisioning, and uptime, alongside regulatory compliance and data protection.
