We have partnered with a financial company in the New York, NY area to provide them with a Senior Engineer. Please review the below description and let us know if you are interested.

This position is for a VP level candidate.

Prioritized must haves for the Senior Engineer:

#1. 7+ years of experience as a Windows System Administrator and/or Engineer.

#2. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server 2016, 2019, 2022, and Active Directory.

#3. Advanced Knowledge of VMware ESX/ vSphere 7.0 or higher.

#4. Advanced knowledge of VMware Horizon VDI solutions

#5. Advanced Knowledge of Amazon AWS Cloud Services (EC2, S3, CloudTrail, ,etc.) and migration of on-premise workloads to Cloud.

#6. Advanced knowledge of SAN systems such as Pure Storage and NetApp

#7. Knowledge of HP Tandem Nonstop System.

#8. Knowledge of Microsoft Exchange Online.

#9. Knowledge of networking and protocols.

#10. Experience with data center infrastructure and disaster recovery planning.

Responsibilities of a Senior Engineer:

Fully knowledgeable on the day-to-day activities, resolves complex issues where expertise is required to interpret policies, guidelines, and practice. May be considered a subject matter expert for one or more functions or processes. Focus on operational execution and occasional broader planning within areas of expertise. May have direct report subordinate staff.

  • Provides all levels of production support, as part of the team, for Windows server, storage, VMware vSphere ESXi, Amazon AWS, VDI, and other utility systems.
  • Engineers and implements new infrastructure solutions.
  • Provides technical support for the network, security, and monitoring systems.
  • Documents project requirements, proposes solutions, conducts budget and ROI studies, manages project plans and execution, and reports project status from start to finish.
  • Manages the remediation of the network and security environment issues on a regular basis in order to meet all the business requirements.
  • Acts as the subject matter expert for assigned back-end IT systems.
  • Performs administration, maintenance, and troubleshooting for the HPE NonStop System.
  • Trains and mentors other members of the IT department as necessary.
  • Participates in daily system and backup checks.
  • Evaluates and tests new software before deploying to production
  • Performs upgrades, patches, and maintenance activities.
  • Updates procedures and documentation based on system changes.
  • Helps to plan and operate disaster recovery tests.
  • Identify areas of improvement such as automation candidates for repetitive work procedures and the integration of systems processes (rest API, etc.).
  • Help to design the Hybrid Cloud architecture to migrate certain workloads from on-premise to Amazon AWS.
  • Assists with hardware and software inventory processes
  • Participates in the maintenance and coordination of various security systems administration
  • Liaises and manages the relationship with vendors and contractors
  • Helps with coordination and preparation of various system audits and examinations
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.

Requirements of a Senior Engineer:

  • 7+ years of experience as a Windows System Administrator and/or Engineer.
