Role Purpose
An excellent opportunity to be part of Corning Incorporated's key technology organizations supporting the deployment of new, innovative, and challenging technologies. Members of the Capital Projects and Facilities engineering team are responsible for the scoping, detailed design, and construction of facilities, expansion, and new equipment lines across the entire company.
Responsibilities
  • Design and implement electrical power systems for facility expansions, equipment installs, or greenfield facilities.
  • Implement robust, reliable, and cost-effective electrical power systems.
  • Participate in all phases of the project including design, fabrication, integration and testing, installation, production start-up support, and training of plant personnel.
  • Manage the electrical engineering scope of process improvements, capital expansion, and power reliability projects.
  • Lead failure analysis and troubleshooting of electrical equipment.

Required Education
  • Bachelors' in Electrical Engineering required
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in the power field
  • Experience designing, building, and analyzing industrial equipment (transformers, switchgear, UPS, ATS, or similar), industrial control panels or industrial machinery
  • Very Knowledgeable of MV and LV facility electrical power systems, power system control design and analysis, including experience with solid-state components (SCRs, IGBTs, etc.)
  • Experience conducting failure analysis, autopsies, and providing guidance on troubleshooting electrical equipment
  • Experience conducting short circuit current calculations, protection and coordination studies, Arc Flash studies, and system reliability calculations
  • Ability to scope and define projects, develop cost models, and resource plans, develop project timelines, develop project metrics, and then execute the project, to include commissioning and turnover
  • Must be available for significant travel, primarily domestic, to multiple locations to support business needs. International travel could be required as well.

Desired Experiences
  • Experience conducting factory acceptance testing (FAT), site acceptance testing (SAT), failure and root cause analysis of high-power industrial control cabinets and transformers
  • Knowledge of power system reliability calculations in combination with system automation, maintenance programs and operations
  • Proficiency in failure analysis of electrical equipment
  • Useable knowledge of national and international standards and equipment (NFPA 70B, NFPA 79, IEC 60204-1, GB 5226.1, IEEE 493, NETA ATS, NETA MTS, and similar)
  • Experience mentoring junior engineers in technology and career growth
  • Professional Engineer or willing to obtain licensure
