Overview
We are seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in NETA testing, commissioning, and working in data center environments. As a Field Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for conducting NETA testing, commissioning electrical systems, and ensuring the proper functioning of electrical equipment. You will work closely with clients to troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues, as well as provide recommendations for improvements. The successful candidate will have strong technical skills, excellent problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
Shermco Industries is seeking an Electrical Engineer
Responsibilities
Job Responsibilities:
  • Position primarily focused in Cedar Rapids Area. May require driving to additional customer jobsites in a company provided vehicle across the state.
  • Available for emergency calls
  • Review, interpret and understand electrical one-lines & schematics
  • Fully understand customer needs and requirements.
  • Provide design services for planned replacement of obsolete equipment
  • Determine isolation plans required to service equipment during planned shutdowns.
  • Identify assets that require maintenance testing on a rotating schedule
  • Outage Management overseeing electrical installation and testing crews
  • Ensure that received and installed electrical equipment meets project specifications.
  • Develop commissioning procedures for placing new equipment into service.
  • May perform simple power system studies including short circuit, arc-flash and protective device coordination.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: to qualify for consideration, you must meet each of the following minimum qualifications and requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from a top ABET accredited school, with a focus on Power Systems studies; internship in a related industry a plus.
  • FE or EIT certification desirable.
  • Cedar Rapids based
  • Knowledgeable about power distribution
  • Power systems experience
  • Power outage planning experience
  • Must be comfortable safely working in the vicinity of high-voltage transmission lines.
  • Must be comfortable with and have ability to work independently, accurately and make great decisions.
  • Willingness to be hands on and work in the field at industrial and commercial sites (this is NOT AN OFFICE JOB).
  • Must be smart, a quick learner, adaptive, able to use good judgment, and be dependable/
  • Strong computer skills a must.
  • Not required, but SCADA knowledge a plus.
  • Must be able to clearly communicate in English via verbal and written methods, and be comfortable and effective doing so directly to customers and co-workers.
  • Must have a good background check and be and stay Drug-Free.
  • Must be able to physically climb ladders, lift and carry up to 50 lbs, have full functionality of arms and hands, stand and walk for long periods of time (with or without reasonable accommodation).
