Job description

The Bangor School Department accepts applications for educational tutor positions continuously throughout the school year. Proof of Educational Technician III authorization or teacher certification and CHRC approval through the Department of Education is required for this position. Tutors are employed as temporary part-time employees with the district. Assignments are flexible and may be during or after the school day. To obtain Department of Education credentials visit https://www.maine.gov/doe/cert.

Tutors are needed in the areas of English as a second language (ESL), special education, science, and mathematics. Tutoring services occur within a variety of settings including the regular education setting, special education setting, in a student's home, or in a public setting such as the library.

Duties include:

    • working one-on-one or with a small group of students,
    • implementing instruction in a variety of subject areas with materials provided and organized by the classroom teacher,
    • communicating with teachers regarding student progress and providing weekly student updates.
